User talk:Alithgon
Hello, Alithgon, I'm Thingg. I noticed you were new, so let me be the first to say welcome and share a few useful links.
Here are some links you might find helpful:
- User tutorial
- Help desk
- How to edit Wikipedia
- Policy on maintaining a neutral point of view
- Policy for content when editing articles and creating new ones
- Notability guidelines for people
- Tips for settling disputes
- Guidelines for properly writing and formatting articles
I know they're a little boring, (....ok, a LOT boring) but they will probably come in handy.
Here are two things to remember when editing Wikipedia: cite references whenever possible, and try to set aside any personal points of view.
Now that you have your own user name, you can sign your comments on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically stamp your user name, the time, and the date. That will help other users reply to your posts. You may also want to fill out your user page to tell others a bit about yourself.
I hope this information is useful to you, and I'm looking forward to seeing your contributions to Wikipedia. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me for help. Good luck, and happy editing!
Hey
[edit]yeah, I understand you about not wanting to reveal information about yourself on the internet. Even though I gave some information on my userpage, it is kind of vague. (For example, I say that I live in New York State, so I could be anyone of ~19 million people living on more than 45,000 square miles of land!) Even if you don't want to reveal any personal information about yourself, I would recommend making a user page (maybe list some interests and/or pages you hang out on or have extensively modified or created) You can look at this page: Wikipedia:User page for ideas and tips on how to make a user page. Oh, and do check out some of the links in my previous post on your talk page, they really helped me when I first started using Wikipedia, and they still help me today at times (I'll admit that I'm still kind of new here.)
Again, thanks for joining Wikipedia and I hope you enjoy the time you spend here. Thingg (talk) 01:00, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
