Copyright problems
[edit]Hello. Concerning your contribution, Chateauneuf de Grasse, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.google.com/search?q=cache%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.amb-cotedazur.com%2FChateauneuf-de-Grasse.htm. As a copyright violation, Chateauneuf de Grasse appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Chateauneuf de Grasse has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Chateauneuf de Grasse and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Chateauneuf de Grasse with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Chateauneuf de Grasse.
However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. High on a tree 06:40, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your clarifying remark at Talk:Chateauneuf de Grasse. However (since unfortunately we can't verify if you are who you say you are from your edits alone) we still need a verification by email or a note on you site, as described in the "If you hold the copyright to this text and permit its use under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License" section in the copyvio warning (see updated article or here). I have changed the speedy deletion notice to a normal copyright warning, which means that there is some days time to do this.
- From your remarks I assume that you are very knowledgeable in this geographical field and I want to thank you for contributing your expertise to Wikipedia. However, as you have also inserted many links to your organization's web site, it might be a good idea to have a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
- Regards, High on a tree 07:14, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
Encyclopedic style
[edit]Please note also that an encyclopedia is not a travel guide, both serve different purposes and are written in different styles. Sentences like "Châteauneuf-de-Grasse is a pretty and dynamic commune" or "You’ll discover here amazing views towards the mountains (etc.)" belong to the latter, not the former. Conflict of interest
[edit]Do you happen to be Alice Barker or in any way affiliated AMB Cote d'Azur? In that case, please have a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. —Preceding unsigned comment added by High on a tree (talk • contribs) Yes, I happen to be Alice Barker, President of AMB Cote d'Azur a non-profit association. I am also very annoyed at the fact that links to my website, with in-depth and researched articles are systematically removed from Wikipedia, while other sites are left and have virtually no valid written content whatsoever.
Addition of http://www.amb-cotedazur.com/ external links
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -- SiobhanHansa 22:59, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

The same issue exists at Maeght Foundation and apparent copy and paste from http://www.amb-cotedazur.com/museums-maeght-foundation.html. Similar action is required on this article. SiobhanHansa 23:10, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Wwelcome to Wikipedia!
[edit]Hi Alice, I've just realized I've left a bunch of complicated, rules-bound, templated messages on your page and no-one's even welcomed you here yet. So Welcome! Despite all these messages that look so unfriendly, we really do appreciate your efforts to contribute to the encyclopedia.
If you have questions, there is a new contributor's help page, or you can write {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page along with a question and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
The main things brought up above are about your use of your website on Wikipedia - we can't accept material that is copyrighted unless it is released under the GFDL (and there's a process we need people to follow to show that), also most magazine type writing is not really suitable for an encyclopedia, so copy and pastes aren't generally such a great idea. We also ask people connected to a website (even a non-profit website) not to post links to their website directly onto article pages. Instead, if you believe the page is appropriate (see our external links guidelines), suggest it on the article's talk page. The decision about whether or not to include it should be made by editors who are not connected to the site.
I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! -- SiobhanHansa 23:41, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Copyright policy advisement regarding articles
[edit]Dear Alicebb, regarding your contributionto Maeght Foundation, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites, or from printed material, without the express permission of the author or copyright holder. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from this URL: http://www.amb-cotedazur.com/museums-maeght-foundation.html. As a copyright violation, the article has been deleted under the speedy deletion criteria.
If you choose to recreate the article, please ensure that the material is written in your own words. If you believe that using sentences from the source is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at the talk page of the new article and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GNU Free Documentation License, or released into the public domain leave a note at the talk page of the new article with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the talk page of the article.
Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Moonriddengirl 00:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Addition of http://www.amb-cotedazur.com/ external links
[edit]Hi Alice. Please stop adding links to this website directly to article pages. It seems pretty obvious that you are connected to the site - we ask editors who are connected to a site to suggest such sites on the article talk page instead of adding them directly. (See our external links guideline.) This way editors who do not have a conflict of interest can assess the link and decide whether or not it is appropriate. If you have any questions about this please leave a message here or at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks -- SiobhanHansa 22:03, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Ted Jones (free-lance writer)
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ted Jones (free-lance writer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Unreferenced WP:BIO, tagged since 9/07 w/o improvement.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
