Thank you HGB for your welcome,
I am from the Dutch Wikipedia and I come here every so often to do some interwiki work. Maybe some other things too, when I see it. Greetings, --Algont 00:17, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Watergate scandal vandals
[edit]Thank you for reverting vandalism to Wikipedia. After you revert, I would recommend also warning the users whose edits you revert on their talk pages with an appropriate template or custom message. This will serve to direct new users towards the sandbox, educate them about Wikipedia, and a stern warning to a vandal may prevent him or her from vandalizing again. Thank you. --AW 15:56, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

re-adding a prod
[edit]You know that you can't undo a prod removal right? You have to take it to WP:AFD. 132.205.99.122 18:35, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Good for you!
[edit]The more emoticons the better! Best regards, Bessel Dekker 14:04, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Bessel, nice to see you're still around. At the moment I'm trying to translate Ludwig Uhland (logical consequence after Carl Loewe...), but, File:Cry-tpvgames.gif do you know why I am crying? Nobody, really nobody at any Wiki, had noticed what a special day it was for me last thursday. File:Cry-tpvgames.gif. Kind regards. algont overleg 20:34, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
My dear Algont, this is really unforgivable!
I do most sincerely apologize, and hope that the flowers I am hereby sending you have not wilted before they arrive.
Very, very many happy returns of festive days enjoyed in freedom!
Sincerest regards,
Bessel Dekker 16:32, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
BTW, lawyer need not mean "advocaat": how about "jurist"? Just a thought... Bessel Dekker 18:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the flowers and the hint!
I wish my English was as good as yours. So I sometimes look at the German Wiki too. --Algont 18:26, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Huh? How does looking at the German wiki improve your English? To be honest, I do not even dare to venture on the German or the French... not to write anything there. The result would be horrible. And BTW, your English is good! Kind regards, Bessel Dekker 21:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Looking at the German wiki is, in this special case, because Uhland is a German. I hope they have the most reliable information. --Algont 11:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Blocked users are still allowed to edit their talk pages (in order to post unblock requests). What you really need in that situation is to request semi-protection (don't worry about it now; I've already imposed that for the rest of the block). Daniel Case 15:26, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Algont! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 329 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
- Rudi van Dantzig - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 19:31, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Tim Green
[edit]I reverted your move of Tim Green for two reasons: first, under the disambiguation page guidelines, there is no need for a disambiguation page that only links to one existing article. Second, even if an article about another person named "Tim Green" is written at some point, the disambiguation can be performed by hatnotes without requiring a disambiguation page. This solution is simpler than moving the existing Tim Green article and breaking all the links to it from other articles. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:41, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- My mistake, it's one and the same person. Thanks. --Algont (talk) 22:17, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:29, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
