License tagging for Image:Celebritydeathmatch.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Celebritydeathmatch.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

You are going to be blocked again

[edit]

Kid, you need to quit vandalizing and uploading images that aren't allowed (Robert Downey Jr.) Is there a reason after multiple, multiple times you continue to do so? Remove your work and vandalism, or be blocked. --DavidShankBone 04:01, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, thanks for the apology, but it is hard to see how you are getting message after message telling you that you are uploading images you are not allowed to upload. You can't upload movie stills - you don't own the copyright. You need to go take them all off, or stop editing (or be stopped). If you don't own the image, you can't use it. That's a good rule of thumb. If you want to learn about the exceptions, then you should read the policy. But you are creating a massive amount of work for someone - it should be you. --DavidShankBone 04:33, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted images

[edit]

Hi Alfredo,

I have seen the notes above and the one you left on David's page. If you're unsure about the copyright status of an image, please don't upload it. If you feel comfortable doing so, you may read Wikipedia's policies concerning image use. Even if an article has no image, we can't upload just any image: they have to fall in one of several categories. I know you didn't mean to violate the policies, which are linked above, and so as long as you've stopped doing it there's no problem. Happy editing! :) --Firsfron of Ronchester 04:53, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
You have been temporarily blocked from editing for vandalism of Wikipedia. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may do so after the block expires.

The images you are uploading are all unsourced, and many are definite copyright violations. Do not continue to upload images to Wikipedia without specifying their source. Many of these images appear to be clear copyright violations. You cannot possibly have missed these dozens of messages left above here on your talk page. If you do not understand Wikipedia's policies on images, do not upload images any more. You have caused a lot of work for other editors. I have blocked you for a full week. Unspecified source for multiple images

Fair use violations

[edit]

For persistent violations of Wikipedia:Fair use criteria by using a film screenshot to illustrate a (living) actor on Johnny Depp and for refusing to colloborate with fellow editors over this issue, you have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for one week. --  Netsnipe  ►  07:58, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've lifted my block because the whole matter is rather confusing for everyone involved. Look, please stay out of trouble by reaching a consensus with anyone before you do ANYTHING regarding fair use images. Communicate with your fellow editors using talk pages, and don't do anything unilaterally, it only antagonises people. --  Netsnipe  ►  13:11, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image uploads

[edit]

Hi. I note over 20 notices above about serious problems with images you have uploaded in the past. Clearly there is an issue here with you failing to understand the requirement that Wikipedia must use *free* images in our mission to create a *free* encyclopedia. Some images may meet the 'fair use' criteria and be permitted, but many do not and will be immediately removed. Even those which might need to be correctly identified and qualified and even though may be removed if a free image can be used instead. I would strongly advise you to not upload any further images without asking other editors about the image you plan to add before you try to upload the image as it is highly likely that you could be permanently blocked from editing Wikipedia, and I feel sure that you would prefer to be able to continue to contribute. Thankyou. --AlisonW 13:22, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jon Stewart's Replacement

I suggest you stop spamming multiple pages with your question about Stewart's replacement. First of all, you should keep discussions confined to a single article. Second of all, Wikipedia is not a discussion board and talk pages should be used for information pertinent to their respective articles not to ask for confirmation of rumors without any question pertaining to the article itself. Image source problem with Image:Match db.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Match db.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Fair use rationale for Image:Match db.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Match db.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr If you've written a quality article... 19:37, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Match mc.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Match mc.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:CDMVG.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:CDMVG.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you. Seraphim Whipp 12:15, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:W.Harrelson.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:W.Harrelson.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:22, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Maurice Schlafer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Only one role, no sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
