Question about article creation
[edit]I sought and received confirmation today about the contribution of Felixberto Sta. Maria to the progress of Philippine education. It was an emailed response. Before you read the text, would you please tell me if I should create a citation based on the email confirmation? Thank you. Incidentally, I also created a user page with this identical note about the emailed confirmation.
----- Original Message ----- From: Alex S. Pronove To: info@paascu.org.ph Sent: Tuesday, August 04, 2009 12:21 AM Subject: I couldn't find a page on your website that lists the past officers of PAASCU.
Such a page would enrich PAASCU's legacy in addition to providing it with a chronological record.
I recently submitted a Wikipedia entry for one of your past officers, Dr. Felixberto Sta. Maria. Click here to read it. Now the entry is at risk of being deleted since the only other Wiki article that links to the late-Dr. Sta. Maria's is FEUs (in the History of FEU section). Click here for the Wiki entry of FEU.
Would it be possible for one of your officers to reply to this email with an acknowledgement of Dr. Sta. Maria's contribution to PAASCU?
Thank you.

- Hi. :) I'm afraid I've had to remove the e-mail you received. E-mail is copyrighted to the sender, and we can't publish somebody else's e-mail here without their permission. See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Durova#Private correspondence. Beyond that, we are not able to cite information in our articles to private e-mails, as nice as that would be. We need to use reliably published sources like books, magazines and newspaper articles. See Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. If you have a question about the reliability of a source, a good place to get answers is Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:17, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:2004-Jul sea-urchin survival-food 01-to-03.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:2004-Jul sea-urchin survival-food 01-to-03.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:05, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
urchin gallery
[edit]Hello Alexcooper1 - Thanks for adding the gallery on urchin preparation. Unfortunately, I don't think it's fully appropriate for the article for a few reasons. First, Wikipedia is not a collection of "how-to" information, it is, strictly, an encyclopedia. Secondly, there is just too much information on this topic for a single article that has to deal with urchin biology, evolution, ecology, commercial uses etc. Lastly, it is written and presented in a very personal style, much like a blog entry. I would suggest you start a new article (perhaps Sea urchins as food) on their preparation, and include your photos and descriptions in that, just with modifications to the tone, as suggested above. How does that sound? Debivort 18:29, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have prodded the new article, as I have ot disagree with the suggestion of Debivort. Wikipedia is not a how-to guide, nor is it a web host. This article lacks context and reliable sources. I appreciate your effort, but I do not believe this is a good idea for an article. Resolute 04:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have subsequently nominated all uploaded images for deletion. You may comment here: Wikipedia:Images_and_media_for_deletion/2007_July_6#Alexcooper1_images. hbdragon88 05:59, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Your edit on National Artists of the Philippines
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to National Artists of the Philippines, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --- Tito Pao (talk) 02:29, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for the pictures, however they do destroy the formatting somewhat, I have kept one but removed the other one. Please do realize that Wikipedia is not Wikimedia Commons. Pictures must only be used in the article if they add to its educational value. Inserting too many pictures in an article can diminish its quality. The captions are also too long and their tone unencyclopedic. Remember that the text needs to be completely neutral, even for a fruit tree. --Obsidi♠nSoul 12:22, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for polishing the article. Yes, I realized my caption was too casual after I had uploaded the files. Wikipedia was my second-use of the photos. I used them on my blog. Many of the photos make their way to my blog and my blog's tone is more conversational. I'm thinking of a conversation among intelligent people. Next time, henceforth, I'll check the caption before uploading the photo to WikiCommons. And I'll exercise more restraint on matters that affect the overall look and feel of the Wikipage.
This is how one learns. Salamat! (Which is <thank you> in Pilipino. It has a similar meaning in Indonesian. It's a general purpose term like <aloha!>

- Hehe, yep I know. I'm Filipino. Wa'y problema ('no problem' in Cebuano). :) And I also know your captions were pretty much correct (though I prefer slingshots made from bayabas - guava trees, hehe). One set of my grandparents also had a Santol orchard, heh. But yeah, it's still an encyclopedia, which means, information has to be presented with a certain detachment. Anyway, thank you for the pictures and don't feel discouraged in any way. I also donate my own pictures of local stuff to Commons. If you need help with anything (formatting, policy, etc.) feel free to ask me in my talk page. Cheers --Obsidi♠nSoul 03:04, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
October 2012
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Dugong, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Anaxial (talk) 10:55, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
