Non-free rationale for File:Need live siamese god.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Need live siamese god.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 09:57, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:Need live siamese god.jpg

[edit]

Hello, thanks for trying to fix the file description for File:Need live siamese god.jpg. Unfortunately, it's probably not fixable, unless you can get a new, more comprehensive licensing statement from its owners. We need a permission not just for Wikipedia, but also for everybody else to re-use the file, for any purpose, i.e. a statement like the one in {{cc-by-sa}}. If you can get the band to give such a licensing statement, and you can prove it (either through an e-mail from them to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia.org" or through a statement on their own website), then everything is fine. If not, we have to treat it as non-free, and that means compulsory deletion because of WP:NFC#1, the rule that we can't have a non-free file if it would in principle be possible to create a new, free one that fulfills the same purpose, which is the case here. Thank you for bringing the matter to my attention ! I maintain an open line with the band members, and it is with their permission that I utilise these 2 pictures I uploaded. I'd be happy get a more comprehensive licensing from them, although I have no idea where to start. What would constitute such a licence ?--Alexbeav (talk) 10:33, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The easiest way would be a statement that simply says "We, the copyright owners, release this image under the terms of the CreativeCommons-Attribution-Sharealike license (cc-by-sa), according to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/". They can do this by simply pasting it on their MySpace page. Here's a more fancy code that adds the statement together with a matching icon:

<a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/">
 <img alt="Creative Commons License" style="border-width:0" src="http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-sa/3.0/80x15.png" />
</a>
This work is licensed under a <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/"> Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License</a>.

Alternatively, as I said, they can mail the same statement to the e-mail address I gave above. But I guess the MySpace edit would be quicker. Fut.Perf. 10:47, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
