Hi, this is James Silvers and I seen that you seem to be the only one in your group. If you still need a group you can join ours. We have three already, but I have seen other four person groups and honestly I think the assignment will be that much easier if we have 4 people. Anyway, feel free to email me if you need a group. Mentoring

[edit]

Hello. First off, Welcome to Wikipedia. :) Second, a slight change in things (as I understand it), on the Media and Telecommunication Policy class, the ambassadors are choosing who to help instead of you picking a mentor. This is based on what the mentor knows best, so we can help you best. I will be helping on the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod v. FCC article. When you get started, please leave a message on my talk page. I have a "Status" tag on my talk page, so you can tell if I am on-Wiki or not. If I am off-Wiki, I answer all messages when I get back. If you have any questions, please don't hestiate to ask on my talk page. Take Care and Have a Great Day....NeutralhomerTalk22:44, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey There. :) Yup, I am your online mentor (as well as the coordinating online ambassador for the TC210 group). Let me know when you start on the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod v. FCC article and I will jump in and help out. Please also be sure to edit under your username, that way if you go to WP:DYK, you get proper credit and such. :) Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk20:37, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My Assignment 6 Edits

[edit]

Here are my edits for Assignment 6. Our group members currently include Alexandra Brito and Matt Cavanaugh.

History

[edit]

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod first began broadcasting religious content on the radio in 1924 on KFUO, which is a daytime non-profit station located on the Concordia Seminary campus grounds in Clayton, Missouri. [1] They later added a full-time commercial broadcast station, still with a religious focus, KFUO-FM.[2] According to Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the goal of the stations are "have been dedicated to the task of carrying out in their way the Great Commission which Christ gave to His Church, to preach the Gospel to every creature and to nurture and serve the people in a variety of ways."[3]

Response

[edit]

The FCC, NAACP and several high-profile civil right leaders, voiced strong opposition to the Lutheran decision.[4] The FCC initially petitioned the District of Columbia District Court for an en banc rehearing of the case with a full court.[5] In a 6-4 vote, the majority of the D.C. Circuit denied the joint petitions for rehearing and the FCC eventually accepted the rulings.[6]

Implications

[edit]

This case was a shift in stance for the federal judiciary, which previously showed compliance to the FCC when creating and enforcing EEO and affirmative action policies as the saw fit.[7] As a result, other EEO or affirmative action policies already in place or attempting to be applies will be placed under a higher level of scrutiny.

Hey Alexandra, good work on the article so far, I have been watching your progress. I did notice that you are using links in your references that can't be seen from non-MSU computers like [url=http://search.proquest.com.proxy1.cl.msu.edu/docview/227124064/abstrct/12D7279279B3B600EED/4?accountid=12598%7Cthis ProQuest.com link]. When clicked on, it goes to a search screen. I am unfamiliar with ProQuest, but I would use Google to search instead of school based search engines, so that all can see the links in the references. You will get the same links, but in a "public" setting. Just makes things easier. Let me know if I can be of assistance as you work on the article. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk22:07, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the "Background" section, I would take the numbered entries and put them in front of a star *, that will get them out of that box that slides off the page. - NeutralhomerTalk22:11, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Neutralhomer, I tried doing that thing with a star and I don't think I am doing it right, could you help or explain a bit more? Sorry I know I am not good at this stuff :( Alexandra Brito (talk) 14:42, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I haven't been online most of the day. Been trying to catch up on some much needed sleep (stupid neighbors). I see you got the star/bullets thing right. Good job. :) - NeutralhomerTalk00:12, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
