Feedback on your article for Alex Mercado

[edit]
  • Since you're at Tecnologico de Monterrey, I would suggest you might try initially creating the article in the Spanish wikipedia.
  • You might consider placing your article in draft namespace (See WP:DRAFTS), where other editors can easily comment on it and there are existing mechanisms to move it directly to main space. If you do create the article in draft space, make sure you add {{Draft article}} at the beginning, so it is readily identified as a work in progress.
  • Please read WP:CITE on how to properly reference your article. In general, the article should only have small numbers visible in the text, which refer to the actual citations that appear at the bottom of the article.
  • Please make sure the subject of the article is notable. See the policies at WP:NOTE.
  • The article should be written as prose, in paragraph form. At this point, your article seems to be written as a list of single sentences, which is not easy to read. When re-organizing the text, take care to make sure each paragraph "flows" - can be read easily, in a continuous narrative.
  • When referencing other people who are in Wikipedia (such as Keith Jarrett), you probably want to Wikilink the first reference. I.e., Keith Jarrett is achieved by entering [[Keith Jarrett]] . Do take care to follow the suggestions in WP:OVERLINK. Only link the first occurrence of a name, and don't link to articles unnecessarily (e.g., don't link to Mexico).
  • When presenting opinions (e.g., Today Mercado is considered as one of best Mexican jazz players.), context is key. *Who* thinks that? That particular sentence should probably be prefaced with something like "Reporter Marisol Pacheco considers...", assuming Pacheco's opinion is itself notable. Alternatively, "On-line magazine Music:life describes Mercado as.... Either way, the citation is absolutely key.
  • Some of your sources may not qualify for Wikipedia's description of reliable - see WP:RS for how to identify reliable sources.
  • The list of venues will probably need to be removed. Those are usually considered trivia and not worth documenting.
  • In the discography, you have sections "As Leader" and "As Sideman". The terms are somewhat obscure, you might want to consider somewhat better descriptions. Also, please see MOS:CAPS - the second word in both those section headers should not be capitalized.
  • Lastly, also be aware of WP:NOSHARING. It looks like both this account (User:Alex Persan) and the one holding the draft article (User:Thelmadatter) are individual accounts, but your message in several talk pages suggested you were acting as a group. You need to be careful about when you represent yourself as a member of a group to not also suggest that the account itself is owned by a group.

Oxford comma

[edit]

Let's start with the first sentence. What do you have against the Oxford comma?
