Planktum Live CD
[edit]- We intent to distribute this around immigrant communities, be it africans, latinos, chinese, etc. A graphical interface receives the user in an enviroment with 4 basic icons on the desktop. all leading to communication applications (present version includes Skype, WebBrowser, Email Client and an Instant Messaging application). (snip)
- Help us make it better sending feedback to: kdagATautistici.org
- The text you submitted tells how you plan to distribute the CD and asks users to improve it. When I mention promotion, the copyright isn't the problem. Wikipedia generally only includes CDs by already established artists (see WP:NMG) and not CDs that may or may not take off. Articles are also supposed to cite reports or coverage by 3rd party sources. I called it promotional because it appeared you were trying to get an audience through advertising the project on Wikipedia - see WP:NOT (especially the section Wikipedia is not a soapbox which covers self-promotion and advertising). Basically, it says it's inappropriate for people to articles in which they have a personal stake (like their projects or business). I've been a tad wordy, but I hope this clarifies things. - Mgm|(talk) 20:13, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- From what I can tell the article was never created in the first place. At least not under the title Planktum Live CD (remember that capitalization counts). I don't think 72 people using it can really be considered as "taking off". Other CDs listed here have sold millions and millions of copies, and listed websites have a large number of visitors. To get something undeleted, you should go to WP:DRV and explain why there's no copyright violation, but first we need to know what title you posted it under. If it was just listed at Articles for Creation it may not have been created to begin with. - Mgm|(talk) 09:44, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Here is where the page used to live: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planktum
Here you can read the weak arguments they used to delete the page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Planktum
I have posted in you Talk page some more clarifications about this CD is all about since is not a music CD and shouldnt be judged according to the amount of copies distributed, further more since the target group of users is immigrant communities you can think on the fact on having distributed almost 100 copies in 2 months, thats more than one new user per day. As said in the post i did in your My Talk page this is a linux based operative system that is in spanish and english and tries to help close the gap of marginalaized communities. Please let me know why it doesn't deserve a page in wikipedia.
Thanks again for you time on this,

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Alejo. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Alejo~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
