Image Tagging Image:IPodMidgetColor.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:IPodMidgetColor.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. lightdarkness (talk) 03:12, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:IPodMidget1.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:IPodMidget1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

iPod Midget
[edit]Please post any future posts to me on my talk page, rather than on my user page. I'm afriad I can't really help you with keeping your page, as i too think it should be deleted. There doesn't seem to be anything worth keeping on the page - it is an article about something which doesn't exist, and is uncited and, it seems now, unverifiable. It also seems obvious to me that at some point apple will bring out yet another, smaller iPod, and I don't think there's much point in having an article on it until it exists. Also, all content seems to be related to ASG, whoever that is (assuming it is not you), and any article based on only one source can't be particularly accurate. Anyway, i'd be interested to hear your thoughts. By the way, remember to always sign any posts you make with for tildes, like this: ~~~~ . Otherwise, people can't see who they're from, and it makes talk pages harder to read. Regards, ConDemTalk 11:36, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:MacOSX10.4.3.gif
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MacOSX10.4.3.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Image copyright problem with Image:WindowsME.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:WindowsME.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. AlistairMcMillan 20:19, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

iPod Midget (again...)
[edit]Hi there Alegoo92. We talked before, if you remember, about your article on the iPod midget. Check my talk page to refresh yourself for your old message, if you like - I just copied it from my userpage history. Please remember to sign your comments using four tildes, like this ~~~~ , as this helps people understand the flow of the conversation, and saves me having to look at the history to see who posted it, and when. You won't get into any trouble over using the word iPod, or from writing an article about the midget, but I would advise against writing another article on the subject, since it will be deleted for exactly the same reasons. Please leave another message on my talk page is you have any more questions, or if you want a more detailed answer! ConDemTalk 01:37, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Also, as TheKoG mentioned above, you may find it helpful to read Wikipedia:Verifiability. ConDemTalk 01:39, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi again Alegoo92. Someone can make another article about the iPod midget, but it would almost certainly be deleted again. The images will no longer be on Wikipedia. I'm glad you've decided to stay and make more valuable contributions to Wikipedia. Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask me. ConDemTalk 02:55, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I can't believe that I have to tell someone who claims to be on Wikipedia's counter-vandalism unit this, but don't vandalise the encyclopedia, like you did here. You should know better. Warrens 02:36, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Images listed for deletion
[edit]Alegoo92, you cannot tag an image as GFDL if it is based upon unfree source images. Even if you have cropped an image, added text, the image has components to which you do not own the copyright, and you cannot release it under the GFDL (or any other license), unless you have explicit permission from the copyright holder to do so. Please reserve the GFDL tag for images which you have created in their entirety, from scratch, or are based upon GFDL/public-domain source images. — Miles←☎ 17:20, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think you can save the images from deletion. If you would like an image to use on your user page, please use a source image that is under a free license, and be sure to cite the source image so that others can verify that it's free. Also, please don't upload more images than you need—if you want to revise an image, reupload it under the same name instead of making a new one. Here are some possible places to search for images: [1] [2] [3]. Simply finding an image on Google Images does not mean that it is OK to use on Wikipedia; do not use Apple press photos, as they will be deleted. Also, if you don't include your username on the image/in the filename, it's more likely that other users will be able to use it. Thanks! — Miles←☎ 04:32, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Please note that the move to Apple iMac was already rejected on the article talk page. If you still believe that the article should be moved, please try to achieve a consensus on the talk page first. — Miles←☎ 17:28, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:MacOSXv10-4-7.png
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:MacOSXv10-4-7.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AlistairMcMillan 01:43, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
