Typo in your introduction
One of your "Before leaving a post here please consider the following" tips says
"If you're here to complain about about an edit of yours that I have reverted."
I assume that should only include one "about"?

Oyfen Pripetchek
Hello Ale jrb, I see that you deleted a new article on Oyfn pripetchek under CSD#A9. Please undo this deletion. This song is a traditional Yiddish folk song by Mark Warshawsky (1848-1907). With only a few searches I've found 3000+ hits on google, a number of scholarly papers referencing it, Yiddish singers for whom it has been a staple of their set-lists, and books that list it as a major musical memory of pre-holocaust Europe.

Igloo
Hi, I've seen you around a lot using Igloo, any chance I could try it? (Huggle is getting frustratingly slow.) Thanks, LittleMountain5 22:59, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how slow huggle is at the moment, but I have no idea whether igloo will be faster - it does work on JavaScript after all. Nevertheless, I will add you to the test list. Cheers, Ale_Jrbtalk 23:11, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! LittleMountain5 00:17, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I did find two things that probably need to be changed: 1) When Igloo reports to AIV, it doesn't add a bullet ([1]). 2) It would also be nice to be able to go to a previous diff of the page on the screen (not sure if there's a way to or not) Other than that, great work! Thanks, LittleMountain5 02:51, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oops - I've fixed the configuration setting for the warning. Adding the ability to browse a page history is on my to-do list, I'll get round to it some time. Ale_Jrbtalk 14:19, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Igloo
Hello. I've seen you patrolling the recent changes and when I saw (IG), I discovered the igloo script. I am interested in trying it out. Cheers! --[midnight comet] [talk] 12:48, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I don't mean to sound like a newbie, but where's the "launch igloo" link? --[midnight comet] [talk] 13:23, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- The launch igloo link will automatically appear at the top of the igloo page, in place of the 'it's easy to get igloo' box, if igloo is properly installed. If it isn't showing up, try clearing your browser cache. You can get to igloo from any page by clicking the '- igloo -' link in your 'toolbox' at the left of the screen. Ale_Jrbtalk 13:25, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I, too, have just installed Igloo. I don't have a "launch igloo" button, but it appeared in my toolbox as "-igloo-". Clicking that and trying to launch gave me an error: "Warning: igloo server returned an error: igloo-fail-auth: the server received your request but actively chose to refuse it. Loading stopped." Is there some sort of list I have to be on to use it? Javért | Talk 00:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- If you managed to get that error, you must have clicked on the launch igloo button - otherwise it wouldn't have launched. There is indeed a list until I've finished it, to stop people trying it out and complaining that this or that doesn't work without giving any details etc. I'll add you to it. Igloo
Hi,
I'd be interested in helping to test Igloo.

Thanks for giving HAPPI a try!
Please let me know if you notice any bugs or anything that you don't like. HAPPI is still pretty new so I'm sure a few problems will bubble up as people first get their hands on it. I can usually get fixes out pretty quickly. --EpochFail (talk|contribs) 22:36, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Igloo
Which server does it connect to? -- Mentifisto 16:25, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- It connects to my free hosting account, which is currently at x10hosting.com. As a commercial host, it will have some security measures in place, and my code is pretty secure, but it will hardly be impenetrable. Thus, if the possibility of someone associating your IP with your username is untenable for you, don't use it. If not, I don't think anyone will actually find out, so... It's up to you. Ale_Jrbtalk 18:57, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Ig... yup
A new vandal-bashing toy, neat. I'm very ready to use your new tool! Just wondering, does it generate anywhere in the area of edits that Huggle does? If so, might want to add my anti-vandal doppelgänger account TutterMouse to your list instead. treelo radda 17:37, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- Although I haven't used huggle for months, if I'm being honest, it's very unlikely that igloo can cope with quite as many edits. With that said, it's much more lightweight than huggle, and I haven't managed to overload it yet, so I would say it's probably 'yes'. I'll add you to the list. Ale_Jrbtalk 18:55, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- Huh, still not on the list... That's fine, just add both accounts so I don't have to keep bouncing between the two to make sure one can use it whilst the other can't. tutterMouse (talk) 07:37, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
(undent) Right, feedback. It's good, it can be laggy on some diffs to the point of it not loading at all but that's to be expected. I'm not too keen on the RC list moving down frequently, I haven't used Huggle in months but there was some scrollback buffer so if you were working near the middle or bottom of a list you'd be able to go through that list without losing your place as five more diffs have come in. A bit different for a web based app like Igloo but something to keep in mind. Also, sometimes I try to revert and get told for that and every revert I attempt after that that I made the edit through Igloo and can't revert even though for each time I've generated it it's never been me self-reverting (though it'd be nice to be able to self-revert for false positives). I'll see what other issues and bugs I can find. treelo radda 10:46, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Interesting; I've never experienced that bug before. Do you have any specifics, such as what you were doing just before it began to happen? Does it only occur in certain situations, or seemingly at random? Does it start after you have tried to self revert, and been told you can't, or after (say) you've tried to revert several times in a row? In other words, is there a sequence of actions you can take to make it do it.
- With regards to the RC list, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying that you want the scroll to stay fixed relative to the diff you just clicked, so you can see where you were, or did you mean something else?
- I'm aware that the diffs can sometimes not load. I'm working on improving the reliability, but not sure how successful this will be. It does manage most of the time :). Thanks muchos for the feedback! Ale_Jrbtalk 13:02, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, never saw that you replied... Anyway, it is random, there isn't any real trigger which causes it to happen, it usually happens after a period of reverting where it gets stuck on one diff as far as it can tell. I see that other diffs do get loaded and displayed but it's like it's still stuck on a prior revert and won't revert the one you can see because it still has a diff in its hand which belongs to you. There isn't a set time or diff limit which causes it from what I can tell, just springs up of its own accord. I've not tried it whilst attempting to self-revert to see if the issue occurs reliably but I will do and report back. The RC list should stay fixed like you say because usually I work the lower middle to bottom of lists to pick off otherwise passed over vandalism, I don't know how feasible it is that keeping the position fixed given the list auto-trims but it's something to consider, just like the self-revert thing. The diffs issue is something my laggy connection is used to, happened a lot on Huggle too and doesn't seem like to me there's much of an uptick in how many diffs failed to load compared to Igloo. Oh, and no problem for the feedback! treelo radda 23:30, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- I believe I have fixed that bug, though you may have to clear your browser cache to see it. You were basically right - when you revert, igloo sets an internal token to stop you accidentally revert-warn-and-flagging yourself, at least until I add a method to revert without the warning. This token clears itself when you view a new diff. However, if the reversion fails because someone beats you to it, igloo sets a different token to stop you reverting them by accident. This token was being cleared when you press space to load the top diff, as I do, but not if you click a diff to view specifically - like you do. This token is now cleared. Horray for testing!
- When I get round to adding the preferences system, you will be able to filter the feed and increase or disable the auto-trim. I will see if I can make the scrollbar stay put until you move it (or rather, move along with the changes being added). Cheers. Ale_Jrbtalk 23:46, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- I was using it whilst you posted this and yeah, I didn't get any of the issues I mentioned before. I did find out annoyingly you can indeed revert-warn yourself which I think a fix is required for. I'm happy to hear about a preferences system because the most annoying thing currently is having to go through a lot of edits which are perfectly normal such as bots, long-term editors and Hugglers, might want to see about a whitelist too though again, no idea on the feasibility of such a thing. I'll see what other issues there are and hopefully you can build some userbase with this tool even if Huggle is generally the big buggy boy around here. treelo radda 19:08, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- igloo does, of course, have a whitelist - it currently stands at around 8000 users (you see the current details when you start the program) which is steadily increasing. It's easier to get started with, and more portable than huggle, so it might indeed get a userbase. It doesn't bother me a huge amount either way, though, as I sort of built it for myself :). Ale_Jrbtalk 21:05, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- I figure it should, there's a few folk out there who don't use Windows and don't get to use many of the software based tools around for anti-vandalism. What's the count on how many users you have now? Given Huggle is buggy and seems stuck in a quagmire in terms of development I feel it could get some who jumped ship or like me simply wasn't able to stand the constant crashes anymore. Just needs to become more flexible and expand it's repertoire which I'm sure will happen even. If it doesn't become any big deal, I'll still use it eitherway. Just keep the quality and development of igloo up and I'll be using it for as long as you plan to keep it alive. treelo radda 21:36, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Igloo problems
Hi! I've been using igloo, and love it. However, I've just started to have problems getting on to igloo. When I click launch igloo, this shows up...
- Nforcer is validating your igloo version...
...and I've waited for a good 20 minutes and it won't start up. Is this just a temporary problem? --[midnight comet] [talk] 00:30, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- It was - I fixed it last week. The way igloo works, most of the code is stored in your browser cache- this speeds it up, but means that updates are not visible, often for some time (weeks). Essentially, I realised that I needed to have a way of streaming a version code so that people would update the code in their cache - this is what Nforcer does. Unfortunately, the original release of Nforcer also had a bug in, which appears to have been cached inside your browser. If you completely clear your cache, or try again with a whole new browser, it should work. Let me know if this doesn't help. Ale_Jrbtalk 15:48, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
