Opera Project banner

Hi. You were kind enough to help with the composers banner. May we ask your advice about the Opera banner? We have a prototype at User talk:Nrswanson/sandbox (with a test banner at Talk:Amanda Forsythe). This is based on Template:WikiProject Philadelphia which allows for three options (no rating/rating no comments/rating and comments) of small print text at the foot of the page. Is the coding OK? (We are keeping this in user space to check it - after that we will show it to the Opera Project for approval before implementing it.) Thanks in advance and best regards. --Kleinzach 00:29, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

I've cleaned up the code a bit (mostly switch statements and whitespace. Otherwise, it seems to work just fine. Might be worth creating the categories for the importance ratings if you're going to have the parameter active. Anyhow, it looks just fine now. Adam McCormick (talk) 15:55, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for this. The project actually debated the importance scale issue and decided not to have one. I think it would be best to take it out completely if this could be done. --Kleinzach 22:36, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
It has been removed Adam McCormick (talk) 23:00, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. --Kleinzach 23:02, 26 June 2008 (UTC) P.S. I'm forgetting - there was one other question. Is it possible to reduce the size of the Portal box? We tried to do this but couldn't work out how to do it. --Kleinzach 23:05, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
There are several options as listed at {{portal}} I would suggest "break=yes" Adam McCormick (talk) 23:07, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Great. Thanks. --Kleinzach 23:19, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Shep made a point about the comments (I think to make a show/hide window) here but we couldn't test it. I wonder if you have any ideas? --Kleinzach 07:26, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

I've responded there and fixed the template Shep put together. Adam McCormick (talk) 18:05, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
The new version is really a departure from what we wanted. I'm wondering if we can go back to your version? If it's possible to hide the written comments added by an assessor that would be good, but I don't think it's a good idea to hide the standard below-line text for unassessed articles. Best. --Kleinzach 23:41, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your note on the project and yes, if you can put the actual comments in a hidden box that would be excellent. --Kleinzach 03:09, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks but this seems to have unravelled see Talk:Arianna Zukerman. --Kleinzach 03:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Should be fixed, sorry I missed a leading space. Adam McCormick (talk) 04:06, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Looks good. --Kleinzach 04:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

It's now installed, however there seems to be a problem with the new classification (List class etc) - double listing between Category:Unassessed Opera articles and Category:List-Class Opera articles. For example Talk:List of zarzuela composers is in both cats. Any ideas? --Kleinzach 16:03, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I've gone through and removed the redundancy. I've also cleaned up a bit. Adam McCormick (talk) 16:21, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, however three lists are still on the Category:Unassessed Opera articles page. (I've purged but they are still there.) Is this just an anomaly? --Kleinzach 00:32, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
They're not actually in the category, it just takes some time for the category lists to be updated, you can make an edit to those talk pages and they'll stop showing up. Adam McCormick (talk) 00:51, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
OK. Thanks, however I've found another bug. See Talk:Antonín Dvořák. If I open the Comments box under the Opera banner and click edit (to add something to the existing text) I get the error message "Safari can’t open the page “ http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Anton%C3%ADn_Dvo%C5%99%C3%A1k/Comments&action=edit ”. The error was: “Cannot show URL” (WebKitErrorDomain:101)". (it's unravelled but you can probably see what is happening). Any ideas? --Kleinzach 02:47, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
I've fixed the problem (actually a mediawiki glitch concerning pipe characters so more of a work-around than a fix). Thanks for keeping me apprised and let me know if anything else shows up. Adam McCormick (talk) 05:27, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately there's another one. This time all the articles seem to have lost the connection to Category:WikiProject Opera articles. This is the big one (should have nearly 5,000 articles in it) that gives us the size of the project. --Kleinzach 06:41, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

SarekOfVulcan RFA

Thank you for !voting on my RfA. If you supported, I'll make sure your confidence is not misplaced; if you opposed, I'll take your criticism into account and try to adjust my behavior accordingly.

See you around the wiki!--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 00:12, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Schools Template Bug?

BoxCrawler Issue

I just spotted in this edit that the BoxCrawler thought specialist school needed an infobox, even though it had already been flagged as not -- maybe the bot should only say an infobox is required if the parameter is not mentioned at all (or there is an infobox, obviously) -- Ratarsed (talk) 08:01, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Most of the point of the bot is to correct incorrect parameters. As such, making the bot respect existing values would negate this goal. However, as the instructions on the bot page explain, articles such as this that really don't need infoboxes can be marked with {{Infobox BoxCrawler}} in order to avoid being tagged. I've gone ahead and tagged specialist school so this won't be an issue for this page in the future. Adam McCormick (talk) 20:11, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Missed that on the Bot page -- I'll try and remember that one for the future; cheers. -- Ratarsed (talk) 20:41, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Yo, fellow mac user! I was wondering, being a fellow wikiproject schools member whether you could perhaps glance over this article, and perhaps say how ready you think it is for GA? I have seeked the advice of lots of editors, but the more the merrier! Thanks in advance! rocketman89 (talk) 00:50, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

BoxCrawler

Is there any chance that your bot would be able to go through all of the pages that transclude to Template:WikiProject Schools, and change it so that they transclude to Template:WPSchools. This isnt a major issue, but if it could be fixed every month or so, it would be a great help. Thanks. Five Years 16:51, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

It is able and is, in fact, already programmed to do that. It also replaces any other version that isn't {{WPSchools}}. Adam McCormick (talk) 17:30, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
