Poju Zabludowicz
[edit]Hello, and yes, there is a problem. In the wikipedia page about Poju Zabludowicz, I wrote that his parents were Polish Jews. You can read the wiki page about Shlomo Zabludowicz. He has survived from the Auschwitz with his wife and they have migrated to Finland — Preceding unsigned comment added by CastNguyen09 (talk • contribs) 06:23, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi CastNguyen09, as commented on your talk page I had to revert several edits you made because your additions were not supported by any references. As stated in the edit summary you are free to re-add contents with a source so other Wikipedians can review and trust your changes. Thanks for your contributions! AlanTheScientist (talk) 12:31, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]I've seen you thanked me for my efforts on the canon fiction page but it's you who has done most of the work so thank you for that! Smitterdin (talk) 15:35, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
- A pleasure! Thanks for you nice message. See you around. AlanTheScientist (talk) 15:39, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
Troubles discretionary sanctions notification
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in the Troubles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

- @Stephanie921, thanks for your nice message! My pleasure. Homophobia shouldn't be tolerated on Wikipedia - or anywhere else ❤️ AlanTheScientist (talk) 21:29, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Fuck yeah!! ❤️ Stephanie921 (talk) 23:14, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Twitter archives are considered to be primary sources, which are not sufficient for adding comments material like this. See also WP:NOR. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:03, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Ohnoitsjamie just to clarify I did not make the initial change but just tried to stop what looked like an edit war and suggested the 2 editors to discuss on the Talk page. My bad for not checking the initial source of the conflict! AlanTheScientist (talk) 13:06, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- No worries, an easy mistake to make when trying to distinguish between whitewashing-deletions and BLP-additions. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't restored after I applied semi-protection, given that you are a confirmed editor. Additionally, apologies for the template; I refactored the note as it should've been in the first place.OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:11, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
See its talk page. You have me genuinely mystified by your comments; I assume your user name means you really are a scientist, in which case you're well aware that Google Scholar isn't written by the scientist concerned. And by the way I'm completely mystified by a comment that simultaneously praises my high quality editing, and cuts out a completely neutral, independently-cited paragraph as likely biased! Let's discuss over there, not here, however. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:29, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Chiswick Chap I've no big opinion on this - just saw you added for the second time something previously reverted by someone else. Just hoped it could be solved by a discussion rather than an edit war :) Thanks for initiating a conversation there! AlanTheScientist (talk) 20:27, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- Well I'm not going to edit-war, but if you agree that the material is neutral, I'd really appreciate it if you'd say so on the talk page. It's faintly absurd to have multiple editors removing reliable independently-cited material on the grounds that the article used to contain one-sided stuff... Chiswick Chap (talk) 20:36, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I've added a comment - let's give the other opportunity to share their view. If they don't want to engage I won't oppose your suggested edit :) Again, thanks again for your great work on all this! I know it can be frustrating to wait and to have edits blocked like this but hopefully we'll solve this quickly! AlanTheScientist (talk) 21:06, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

Reverting once is not an edit war so please do not accuse me of trying to start an edit war. My personal policy is always one revert then I discuss. You continue to miss my point. My point is not stating the obvious. My secondary point is there is a statement denying the allegations so there is no reason to specifically state that he denies the allegations on top of providing a statement that denies the allegations. You also seem to have this idea (based on what you're saying) that my excluding the denial is assuming his guilt which is not at all the point I'm making. --Rockchalk717 03:03, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- It was probably accidental but you pushed the exact same edit twice despite a lack of consensus - just wanted to make sure it didn't escalate. But glad to hear it wasn't your intention :) And thanks for taking the time to engage in a conversation instead! I understand your point but the initial article made it very clear he denied the allegations and I felt like your edit made this less clear. We have to find the right balance and should be extra clear and careful when it comes to living persons, especially when there's ongoing lawsuits. I totally get it might sound slightly repetitive but the statement your refer to ("The facts of the incident are not what they are portrayed in the lawsuit or in the press.") is not as clear as saying he denied, it's at best implied. If he clearly denied it should be clearly reported, not just implied. Because reliable news organisations said he denied we should rely on this. External sources do the commenting/analysis and we do an accurate summary of the sources. Again, I understand your point and would have agreed in other circumstances but I think being slightly repetitive and stating the obvious is the right thing to do based on how sensitive the context is. Just thought of this:
[edit]Marge: "Homer, there's someone here who wants to help you!" Homer: "Batman???" Marge: "No, they're a scientist." (Dunno ur pronouns btw, feel free to tell me and I'll correct this if need be) Homer: "Batman's a scientist?" Marge: "Alan's not Batman!" Stephanie921 (talk) 10:18, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oh hahaha love this! Thanks @Stephanie921. I should definitely change my username to BatmanTheScientist ^_^ AlanTheScientist (talk) 14:04, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service
[edit]Hi AlanTheScientist! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.
In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.
You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:
- Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
- Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
- Paste
{{Frs user|AlanTheScientist|limit}}
underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month. - Publish the page.
If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.
Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you! Message delivered to you with love by Yapperbot :) | Is this wrong? Contact my bot operator. | Sent at 18:00, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
