Steven Erikson

Hi Alan16! Wanted to introduce myself because I edited the Erikson pages during your absence; I hope you don't mind. Thanks for fixing the enormous error I made on the main Erikson page where I parked some text to copy into the text box and then saved the page! Anyway, I wanted to let you know not to worry too much about deleting places I tagged; that was more to remind myself what needs to be found in terms of sources. I'm a fairly good researcher, and there is information out there, just needs to be found. I'm working on a number of other articles at the moment, but will be adding sources in the ref sections of the Malazan series as I get time if you don't mind. I think the articles can be whipped into good shape soon enough. Cheers! Truthkeeper88 (talk) 02:18, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I was wondering what the 167 characters you removed said, on the wiki page for Grace Van Pelt?

Because you wrote nothing about what you did on there.

AWB Task

Hi. Your AWB Task on Demographics - some seem to have been done - some haven't so I'll have a go. To check, you want the CIA stat bit to be a level 2 heading and the emboldened stuff like Population to become level 3s? Alan16 (talk) 14:23, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

It depends on where it lies in the article's topic hierarchy. For example, see Demographics of Denmark#CIA World Factbook demographic statistics.
Thank you for taking this on.

How Not To Live Your Life

Hi! You asked Juliancolton to move How Not To Live Your Life to its current title, based on how the programme capitalizes its name. I've opened a move request to move the article back, based on our naming conventions. You can see my reasoning here. Just letting you know about the discussion so that you can weigh in if you want. Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 09:00, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

"They"

Sorry about that, it's just my bad(?) habit of using gender-neutral language online. In retrospect, I think there wouldn't have been anything wrong with "he" since your username pretty much gives it away :) I'll try to remember next time. Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 14:35, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

No problem. Thanks again - Pointillist (talk) 22:26, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I can move it across to commons (if you upload it as CC-by-SA 3.0 or as public domain), and straighten/crop/rebalance etc in Photoshop if you like. I'm happy to help. Mind you, if you just want to upload to commons, you can easily extend your en.wikipedia account across the other sites: instructions are at m:Help:Unified login. If you have time to help, I wouldn't turn it down. Did the writing seem okay? Also, I'm not sure how to move it to a page that redirects. How do I get to the original page to add this info to it? Sabiona (talk) 12:19, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
I have a good start on this and think it can be moved to an active page. How should I go about doing that?Sabiona (talk) 13:52, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I'm done with it for now. If I find any more sources I'll add them, but it's as good as I'm going to make it for the foreseeable future. Would you please rate and assess it? Thanks, Sabiona (talk) 19:07, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry about it! I know that you've got a ton of other things to deal with...I just want to help here and there when I can. You stated I oppose everyone who's had that userbox, which is more or less true. My statement in question was directed toward the other guy. Keepscases (talk) 02:03, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Note.

Hey, just a copy and paste of a comment I received on my RFA due to keepscase.

"But more experience would have caused you to quickly realize that arguing with Keepcases is akin to trying to convince the crazy guy on the train that he wasn't abducted by aliens. Some things simply aren't worth the key strokes; like trying to fight an editor who's vote is very likely ignored by the crats on a regular basis. I think that a competent editor with the potential to have the mop is easy to identify. You strike me as someone in that category. I do tend to believe that in order to effectively wield the mop, you need to have been around long enough to discern patterns of behavior so that you can mitigate the frequency with which you get duped by the crazies. Wikipedia is enormous, but we admins are really only needed to deal with a very small percentage of the project. That small percentage, however, is a magnet for drama groupies, vain glories, and imbeciles. From time to time, members of one of these groups gets elected to the admin corps and causes all kinds of problems. If you hang around for another year, that will provide a pretty quality data set on your behavior patterns and competence, and if it is positive, you'll have my support"

You already have my support at the moment, but just wanted to let you that getting worked up over his comments is not the greatest idea or worth your effort. Good luck in your RFA!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 02:13, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

You aren't worked up yet, but he has a way of getting on your nerves. I have received multiple opposes because I was rather sharp with him. Once again, good luck.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 02:18, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

But if the account has been created by someone else with de same name it only can the use the account created that it. If that appens the solution it sr that you reach an agreement with that has created the account.

Good enough. I'm sure you have noticed so much garbage being put up with no citations lately, not just in CSI but the NCIS and Law and Order shows. Re: How Not To Live Your Life

Hi! It's a shame no more people got involved in the discussion, but I think the closure as no consensus was correct. There's just no other way to close a proposal with one supporter and one opposer, especially when the opposition has raised valid concerns. The burden of evidence is of course on the people supporting a change. I'm glad that the issue got settled. No point in fighting about style issues - you say tomayto, I say tomahto. Wikipedia-wide uniformity in issues like this would be a pretty unrealistic goal. By the way, don't underestimate how often the article is looked at![1] ;) Jafeluv (talk) 20:21, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

If the break has not made a difference then just leave it and try and get someone with no opinion on the matter to deal with it - nothing is worth raising my cholesterol level for - I intend to live a long life", you have a funny way of "walking away". WikiProject Novels - August "Member in Focus"

Sure, I can write something up. I'll try to get to it tomorrow. Thanks for thinking of me. ;) Sabiona (talk) 20:42, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Here you go...
I am a school librarian in my ‘real life’ and so I use Wikipedia a lot with students aging from twelve to eighteen. While helping students research various topics I’ve run across many holes in Wikipedia that need to be filled so I created an account and began editing pieces. I’m taking a break from teaching for a few years while I raise two boys of my own, so I created a personal account a couple months ago and am focusing on editing articles on literature as well as the upper Midwest area of the United States and theater. I enjoy all forms of literature but most often read fantasy and mystery. I am an occasional editor with no intent to run for any post; instead, I look at one or two articles a month that need help and do what I can. My public library system allows home access to a number of academic and professional databases, which is where I find most of my sources.
Thanks again for including of me, I am flattered. Sabiona (talk) 12:41, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what else to add. Do you have any other ideas about what I should add beyond:
I am currently working on filling in some of the red links on the Newbery Medal page and then hope to turn the stubs into full articles. Anyone want to help? I'd be interested in starting a Award Winners workgoup. I am also active in the WikiProject Biography and in the Children and Young Adult Literature WikiProject. They all have areas of focus that compliment each other and my interests. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sabiona (talkcontribs) 15:35, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Sword of Truth insert for Newsletter

Here is something:

Hi all, the Sword of Truth Task Force is restarting to clean up the articles related to Terry Goodkind's books and there adaptations. With the new TV series, The Legend of the Seeker, the books and the TV show are getting more critical attention, which means more real world material to document this great series of book. I would love to have other's help, as I have only just recently joined to find no other active members. The other members, as listed, have mostly left Wikipedia or removed themselves from the task force. If you are interested I would love to talk at the forum: Wikipedia:WikiProject Sword of Truth/General Forum, or send me a message. Hope to talk to some of you soon, SADADS (talk) 22:45, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
