The article Centenary Stormers FC has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The club doesn't meet the requirements of WP:FOOTYN#Club notability, its best achievement being Preliminary Round 4 of the FFA Cup.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cabayi (talk) 12:44, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Response to deletion proposal (Akttns): Club notability criteria states:
:All teams that have played in the national cup (or the national level of the league structure in countries where no cup exists) are assumed to meet WP:N criteria. Teams that are not eligible for national cups must be shown to meet broader WP:N criteria.
The FFA Cup preliminary rounds form part of the Australian national cup competition. Therefore all competing clubs meet this criteria. All clubs in the (English) FA Cup qualifying rounds meet this criteria, so for consistency a similar policy should be applied to clubs in the (Australian) FFA Cup preliminary rounds.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Akttns (talk • contribs) 12:18, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
- I'm glad that we're both aiming for consistency but you have it wrong - qualifying and preliminary rounds do not count. Not in Australia. Not in England.
- Can I point you to FFA Cup#Eligibility "The 32 teams that make up the FFA Cup competition proper are the 10 A-League teams with the remaining 22 teams composed of various semi-professional and amateur qualifiers". The clubs notable enough for an article are any which have ever participated in the FFA's final 32 as listed at FFA Cup appearances or any team in the A-League (which would be in the FFA list anyway) or its predecessor the National Soccer League. All such teams already have an article.
- If there's any other reason any of the teams may be notable that's great, but they're not making the grade on their performance.
- I'll raise an AfD to resolve it. Cabayi (talk) 15:11, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
