Cultboard! Watch out!

Cultboard! Watch out! is speediable under CSD A3. Please take some time to look over the policies before you remove the tags again. I know you were acting in good faith, so it's no big deal that you removed it; it just makes it easier if you're well-versed in the policy if you're going to be active in CSD-related articles. Cheers hoopydinkConas tá tú? 11:51, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Ah, you're correct. I meant to apply CSD G3, not A3. I'll go fix it hoopydinkConas tá tú? 11:56, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the {{Notabot}} template, I have it sported right at the top of my page. I don't understand what you mean about the User:Somabot subpage though. Somnabot 23:35, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Help again

I seem to have deleted the wrong pages including my sandboxes, and my to do list in the process of transferring them from User:Somabot to User:Somnabot. Is there any way of recovering a deleted page? Thanks again, Somnabot 18:03, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the message, Somnabot's subpages are now undeleted and the speedy tags removed. Tim! 18:24, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

User:Ais523/editcount

Hey Ais523! I tried out your edit counter and it works perfectly. It does take a little while to load, but it's extremely detailed! I regularly use Interiot's Tool because it only takes a few seconds to load, but it lacks several important features.
Keep up the good work! =) Jumping cheese Contact 21:20, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Oh...I have a quick question: How do I link to the tool? Do I copy and paste the URL (it's like 500 characters long!). =D Jumping cheese Contact 21:31, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanxs for the explanation! ^_^ Jumping cheese Contact
I like the change...the page does not appear as overwhelming as before. Thanxs for a great counter! =D Jumping cheese Contact 20:55, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Edit counter

I just tried adding the tool, but I suspect that I did something wrong (I'm not finding a link on the contribs page). If you have a chance, could you possibly get me my count? Thanks so much. alphaChimp laudare 17:12, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! I actually got my results a little after you did. The issue was <faceslap>, that CONTROL on a mac is != CTRL on a PC. Very, very nice counter. I know something is good when it effectively shuts down my ability to access my computer. I'm surprised you haven't gotten a barnstar for this yet. Instructions for installing your edit counter

Please consider changing your instructions on the page User:Ais523/editcount; if the page is vandalised, any malicious code inserted may be included into other users' monobook.js. There is a standard template {{js}} that will do the job of installing your edit counter just fine without the risk. Kimchi.sg 17:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Done. --ais523 17:47, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I removed the speedy tag from the article since it currently asserts notability (the additions were made after you had tagged it). If you still think it should be deleted, you could list it on afd. Thanks. - Bobet 13:58, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

de-PRODding articles

G'day Ais523,

thanks for your message. My primary concern with regards to PRODded articles is that some people seem to get upset when the tag is removed, and constantly mention it on AfD (particularly when it's done by the author, usually complaining or listing it as a reason for deletion). Since the whole point of PROD is that anyone, no matter who they are or what their motives, can de-PROD any article, I'm sure you can understand why stigmatising the act of removing a PROD tag would be a Bad Thing. As such, I'm jumping on anyone who seems to be complaining. In your case, I'm sure you were acting in good faith, but I'm not sure why the de-PRODding of an article is relevant to its AfD, unless the de-PRODder stated a good reason (but if he did, why are you AfDing?). fuddlemark (befuddle me!) 13:59, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

thanks for your reply. Frankly, if anyone's silly enough to argue that you should have prodded something without even checking to see if you did, that ought to be their lookout. Also, authors arguing on AfD is another thing that is often criticised by AfDers who don't stop to think; I don't see why an AfD subpage would need to contain a warning that the author is likely to show up. As for "should be stigmatised", well, PROD is designed to be light-weight: a PRODded article is an article that nobody, not even its author, thinks is worth keeping. Requiring a reason for removal of {{prod}} tags means, a) we're no longer respecting the process's original aim; and b) given the "Wikipedia as Nomic" fans around the place, someone will notice and worry that PROD is becoming harder to oppose than it was meant to be and try to write extra policy and process to counteract that ... and, well, yuck. Hope this makes things clearer. fuddlemark (befuddle me!) 14:17, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Feel free. fuddlemark (befuddle me!) 14:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Wow, your're edit tool has some interesting stats (as posted on RfA's). One day, I might like to merge this[1] and this[2]. I am not sure how I'd go about that. My tool already goes slow enough :). I need to speed it up. Any thoughts? Thanks.Voice-of-All 05:28, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

per edit of Zundapp Janus (MR Layout) car page

Saw this edit, (am maybe a little confused/disoriented in Wikipedia space), but follows is link for succinct evidence of Janus mid-engined/rear drive layout: a phantom drawing presumably by the manufacturer, or other expert. (Shows engine and drive shaft to differential of sorts, visible thru rear seat)

Edit counter

I love the edit counter! Thanks for making it!

There is one suggestion that I would like to make, in a future version, could it be possible to have the total number of edits made, all added up instead of having to manually add them? Or maybe it's already there and in my excitement I didn't see it!

Thanks again! --Signed and Sealed, JJJJust (T C) 09:58, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

I second that suggestion (and also that congratulations). There's another thing I noticed when looking up the count of editors with huge amounts of edits. In cases where an editor has over 5000 edits to a particular namespace (like User:Essjay and the Wikipedia namespace) the counter only counts 5000 of them. It's not a huge problem I know (I don't have 5000 total edits), but it's another thing to work on if you feel the need. Thanks again for that great bit of code. Raven4x4x 13:02, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
I've now added the total. I'm aware of the 5000-edit cap, but editcountitis can be fatal and it would slow the counter down even further if it counted beyond the 5000. --ais523 10:22, 26 August 2006 (UTC) 10:22, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

problem at {{reincarnation}}

It' s not including the externel link or article link. I thought I created it correcly; since you' re a template whiz could you please look at, the syntax is supposed to be {{reincarnation|diff|article}}. Thanks, -Crazytales56297 19:57, 11 August 2006 (UTC) (at library on crap kbd)

Alright, I understand. What I meant is to leave a translation request, so that somebody may translate the article from Spanish to English. Anyway, thank you for your advice; it won't happen something like that again. To avoid confusion, I will write the introduction. Dalobuca 16:43, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Funfail.com

In case you're still curious, the article went to AFD before the prod was removed as that appears to be that user's M.O. S/he's newly registered and his/her only contributions are to start AFDs (instead of prodding or prod2ing). It happened to me, too, and it's extremely bizarre. I don't know of new users who start in AFD (at least, not in favor of deletion). Huh. -- Merope 17:36, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Copyedit on Gaurav Raja

Which part, exactly needs a copyedit i.e., what's wrong with the article as it currently exists? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Forever Old (talkcontribs) 15:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

I fixed all the spelling errors and changed the handful of punctuation errors that I could see. As for reading like a news report, all of my sources are news reports, so I think that's inevitable. Long sentences are simply my style and are not gramatically wrong. So, can we take the tag off now? Forever Old 14:29, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

GFDL vs. Public Domain

Would you please point me to a summary of the ramifications of the GFDL as applied to wikipedia? This is in the context of merging esoteric language material onto the Esolangs wiki. Thanks in advance. --IanOsgood 20:08, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

The strategy I'm taking is to ask page originators to contribute original material to the Esolangs article. I'm concerned less with the article text than with the snippets of sample code. One question: if I determine that portions of these wikipedia articles come verbatim from some other copyrighted source, must that material be deleted from wikipedia or rewritten? --IanOsgood 14:10, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Esolangs

I thought I recognised you! :P But yes, I would very much appreciate the exported archive. The destruction of code examples really isn't much of an issue, most of them would never be used again, and those that would be can be easily enough remade. mkd522 LinaMishima 15:17, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

No rush, it's not really going to be needed until I've figured out templates, made the templates the esolang list needs for easier maintainance, and converted the entire list to the new format... eeek, that's a big job... LinaMishima 15:23, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
