Administrators' newsletter – June 2022

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2022).

Guideline and policy news

Technical news

  • Administrators using the mobile web interface can now access Special:Block directly from user pages. (T307341)
  • The IP Info feature has been deployed to all wikis as a Beta Feature. Any autoconfirmed user may enable the feature using the "IP info" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features. Autoconfirmed users will be able to access basic information about an IP address that includes the country and connection method. Those with advanced privileges (admin, bureaucrat, checkuser) will have access to extra information that includes the Internet Service Provider and more specific location.

Your rollback

For Special:Diff/1091557443, we don't tend to rollback in drafts unless it's really heinous vandalism such as a whole page blanking. As it happens, the editor was in the IRC help channel getting advice, and it looks like they forgot to login - RichT|C|E-Mail 01:29, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

Correct! You could have provided one describing your concern. While you didn't technically use "rollback", the concerns described at WP:ROLLBACKUSE do apply. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 09:57, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

Pirateboy123

Can you explain your reverts at President of Cyprus and Nicos Anastasiades and your final warning for Pirateboy123? Sdrqaz (talk) 19:11, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

So not vandalism after a final warning? Sdrqaz (talk) 19:29, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
nope i was editing on mobile and its super laggy. Airtransat236 (talk | contribs) 19:31, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
huge mistake Airtransat236 (talk | contribs) 19:32, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
Airtransat236, I can't find a consensus for either photo on the articles' talk pages. Talk:President of Cyprus and Talk:Nicos Anastasiades are pretty empty. So if you revert to enforce a consensus, where can I find that consensus? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:43, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
I'm only back here because I had hoped for an answer to the question, but I admit it's rather rhetorical and doesn't need an answer. What I was trying to say is: Wikipedia encourages users to be bold. Please don't revert them solely for doing so. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 09:59, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Just found out that he was a sock. I knew there was something off. Airtransat236 (talk | contribs) 01:13, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

June 2022

Information icon Hello, I'm Airtransat236. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Example Page, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Airtransat236 (talk | contribs) 19:03, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

I see you're learning how to better utilize escalating user page warnings

Good for you. We can always use more eyes on anti-vandalism patrol. Thanks. Sorry for talk page lurking but you got on my watchlist when I added page protection a few days ago. If you ever need help, call on me. BusterD (talk) 21:01, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
