This effort is quite strong. I reviewed your edits and have a few suggestions. I think the organization needs a little bit of work. Ideally you would define it and then talk about how it differs from chicago soul, new orleans soul, etc. After that the record labels and then maybe artists known for the sound?
There is also a bit of copy editing to do. Really great draft.
