Livingstone-Stanley Monument, Mugere

[edit]

Hi -- very interested to see the item and photos of this monument which I had not heard about, despite doing quite a lot of research on Livingstone. I think at some point in the past an error has grown up about the origin of the stone. I think it was put there to mark a visit made by Stanley and Livingstone 15 days after they met, they were entertained by Chief Mukamba according to entries in their journals. There is no doubt they met in Ujiji 160 km south. Do you by any chance know what is egraved on the stone? No matter, this is still a useful addition to the list of topics connected to Livingstone. I have expanded the article you've started with references (and also re-titled it to make it easier to find) and I'll also edit the Livingstone page to fit. Many thanks for your contribution.
