IPA transcriptions

Hi Agrasa, I've been looking through some of your IPA transcriptions. Remember that transcriptions are subject to different interpretations, and there are conventions for English transcriptions that Wikipedia articles follow. For instance, /r/ is used for the alveolar approximant instead of /ɹ/ in broad transcriptions. Also, transcriptions aren't necessary for words whose pronunciation is obvious for English speakers (e.g., breadfruit). Use Wikipedia:IPA for English as a guideline, and never hesitate to ask about anything. ʀoyoтϵ 06:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Another thing: use {{IPA-en}} or {{pron-En}} for English transcriptions as opposed to {{IPA}} for pronunciation guides at the start of articles. Those templates automatically link to the IPA article so you don't have to add one yourself. ʀoyoтϵ 06:27, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
