Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.
While user names that are the names of organizations are not permitted, you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Foundation", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87". Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|Alicia Vianga at AfterBreastCancer|reason=Previous page was blocked due to it being an organization, I have added a name to comply with the regulations as it identifies individually ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:54, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:AfterBreastCancer/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Justlettersandnumbers - the new username seems compliant with policy, are you happy for me to unblock (with a reminder about WP:COI and WP:COPYVIO? Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 18:52, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for asking, Girth Summit. The username is fine; as long as the user will undertake to avoid any further promotional editing on behalf of her organisation I'm happy for the account to be unblocked. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:49, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Alicia Vianga at AfterBreastCancer, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! GirthSummit (blether) 20:01, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - the welcome message above should give you the links you need to get started here, including information on how you need to edit with regards to any subject you have a conflict of interest with. If you are editing as part of your job, the WP:PAID policy also applies. The other think you need to familiarise yourself with is WP:COPYVIO - short and simple, you can't post material here if it is covered by copyright, even if you or your employer own the copyright, without jumping through some hoops with regards to release of the copyright and proper attribution. Not just in articles - you can't do it in drafts, in your sandbox, anywhere. I hope that's clear, best GirthSummit (blether) 20:04, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission, as you did at User talk:AfterBreastCancer/sandbox‎. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:35, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote above "as long as the user will undertake to avoid any further promotional editing on behalf of her organisation I'm happy for the account to be unblocked". I see that you did not actually make any such undertaking, but had assumed that you would at the very least take that as a warning. You've also had clear warnings about copyright violation, both from me and from Girth Summit. Neither promotion nor copyright violation is tolerated here. If you want to be unblocked in order to make useful edits to this encyclopaedia, you'll need to show that you understand what has been wrong with your contributions to date, and also give some indication of some articles or topics where you think you could make improvements. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:44, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Justlettersandnumbers, apologies - I should have waited to receive that undertaking before unblocking. I agree with you that someone violating policy again immediately after being unblocked and given very clear guidance is either unwilling to read our policies or unable to understand them, either of which would make them incompatible with this project. GirthSummit (blether) 17:24, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Girth Summit, there's nothing to apologise for – I'd sort of imagined that the user would immediately say, "yes, of course I undertake to avoid any further promotional editing", but she didn't. That might have been because she didn't understand our policies, or simply because she had no intention of respecting them. I'm perfectly willing to unblock, or happy for anyone else to, once we see (a) clear understanding of why previous edits were unacceptable and (b) firm commitment to avoid any repetition of the same mistakes. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:51, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
