- Hi John, thank you for your comment. I am a representative of Butterfield Market and we agreed on updating the page for the company. Is there an email address that I can reach regarding this? Thank you Afsha13 (talk) 22:32, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Hello, Afsha13. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Butterfield Market, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Johnj1995 (talk) 22:36, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you for clarifying. Will keep this in mind. Afsha13 (talk) 22:40, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello just wanted to reach out again to let you know that the Wikipedia information is wrong and needs to be changed. If there is a conflict of interest, who can change the article? Please let me know, thanks. Afsha13 (talk) 19:16, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Afsha13, please stop editing the article directly. You really need to read WP:COI, which includes instructions for how to suggest changes. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:51, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, it is a little confusing - I'll circle back to the team. We just don't want incorrect information. Afsha13 (talk) 19:56, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Feel free to ask clarifying questions. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:57, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Can I at least suggest a few things that are definitely wrong. The year is 1915. And the website is https://www.butterfieldmarket.com/ is there a way you can update that? Afsha13 (talk) 20:00, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- I already restored the correct url. The year of founding is given differently by different sources. That's a good example of a controversial change that would need some talk page discussion. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 20:02, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for doing that! Can I ask where that particular NYT article is? That reports the date differently? Afsha13 (talk) 20:05, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

- Thank you! Is there a way to link this instead of the general NYT? Also, we have a general doc for Wikipedia updates. Could someone on your team look at it, make it neutral, and then publish it? The page right now isn't comprehensive. Afsha13 (talk) 20:35, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Rather than push a large number of changes at once, I recommend bundling a manageable number of the most uncontroversial changes and proposing them at Talk:Butterfield Market for review by interested editors. If no one responds, you can use Template:Edit COI. There's a backlog. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 20:43, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you - this is helpful for prioritizing content Afsha13 (talk) 20:45, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi could you add the logo? You agreed with that suggestion. Also I didn't realize my IP address was visible with that comment could you delete it? Thank you. Afsha13 (talk) 19:07, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- I can't do what you need for the IP, but someone can: see WP:LOUT. Can you link the logo you're referring to? Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:11, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I sent an email to oversight. Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/butterfieldmarket/, thank you! Afsha13 (talk) 19:21, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

- Yes! Afsha13 (talk) 19:31, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi! Is it possible to add more images and text to the page? Other similar pages are more built out but Butterfield isn't. Can any of the following be expanded/adjusted including history, mission, local nature of Butterfield, prepared and speciality foods, catering, gift baskets, online ordering, community involvement, cultural and historical references, and external links. Please let me know and I'll send text to you. There are many images that are public here: https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=576113405&rlz=1C1VDKB_enUS968US968&q=butterfield+market+madison&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwiP_YaW846CAxWyD1kFHe7UAD4Q0pQJegQICxAB&biw=1920&bih=937 Afsha13 (talk) 15:58, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Afash13. There's a few important things I need you to do:
- Please post future requests at Talk:Butterfield Market, so that other interested editors can participate.
- If you are trying to get my attention in particular, you can use a template like Template:Ping. The instructions for use are there, but the short version is that you should type
{{Ping|Firefangledfeathers}}
. - For image requests, make sure that the images are released under a compatible license and uploaded to Commons. You are welcome to ask follow-up questions about that process. The logo I uploaded earlier was an exception, so other images will need to be handled differently.
- For text content requests, you should cite a reliable, secondary source and suggest specific text to be added that summarizes (in your own words), what the source says. Some primary or non-independent sources can be used, but it should be for basic, non-promotional, non-controversial facts.
