State Violence

was thinking of saying this for the lead (along with the other sentences you have added):

State violence is the force, intimidation, or oppression by a government or ruling body against the citizens within the jurisdiction of said state. This can be seen in a variety of forms, including physical violence, settler colonialism, surveillance, immigration law, and other tactics used to express authority over a certain group. State violence can happen through law enforcement or military force, as well as through other branches of government and bureaucracy. State violence is typically justified under the pretense of maintaining law and order, or protecting borders.

Should we change the title of the page from 'State Violence' to 'State Violence in the United States'?I've noticed the majority of our sources are about the United States with the exception of two. And I'm debating on not using the Israel/Palestine one because I don't think I can talk about it in a neutral way. Plus, the rules that Israel established for interrogation are kind of a moot point given what they have done. I would appreciate your input! Aemoe85 (talk) 03:57, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
