The article Ken Mckenna has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:49, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Ken Mckenna
[edit]The article was tagged for speedy deletion again, but I have removed the speedy tag since the current version appears to assert notability, much due to the section on him appearing on various TV channels and talk-shows.
Be aware that if someone still wants it deleted, they may being it to WP:AFD where a deletion discussion may well bring about its deletion. If you want to prevent this from happening there is one thing with the article which should be addressed. The article at present is only sourced by a link to McKenna's website. It is OK to source articles in part with material they themselves have published, but the presence of some independent third-party sources is almost essential for most people when they determine whether a person passes notability guidelines.
Hope that helps, and good luck with your contributions! Sjakkalle (Check!) 09:34, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:Ken-McKenna-Nevada-Attorney.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on Image:Ken-McKenna-Nevada-Attorney.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Ken-McKenna-Nevada-Attorney.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I have deleted this image as a copyright violation, as the image was blatantly taken from here. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously- failure to do the same will result in you being blocked from editing, or even in legal trouble. Feel free to contact me on my talk page if I can be of any help. J Milburn (talk) 14:08, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- I do apologise- in almost every case of this type, it is the Wikipedia user who has stolen the image from another site. I am willing to restore specific images, and you are welcome to upload again- perhaps it would be best to explain on the image page that you are aware other sites are using them, yet you own the copyright and you gave them permission. If you are concerned that people are including falsities or using Wikipedia to attack Mr. McKenna, then I must recommend you post on the biographies of living people noticeboard- there, you will be able to get the assistance of a number of editors who are experienced in cases of this type. J Milburn (talk) 19:55, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I have redeleted the image, as Andus McLellan has already undeleted a duplicate. Sorry if it seems I am not assuming good faith but myself and others are a little dubious about this- could you explain in a little more detail who you are/why you own these images, and perhaps provide some evidence? McKenna Images
[edit]I have undeleted Image:KenMcKenna4.jpg and Image:KenMcKenna2.jpg temporarily, but I am not entirely convinced by your comments. Image:KenMcKenna2.jpg is said to come from the Reno Gazette Journal, so one would assume that they are the copyright holders. Can you explain how it is that you come to be in a position to grant reuse rights for this image? Or did the Gazette Journal publish the picture with your permission? Please clarify, thanks. Angus McLellan (Talk) 20:35, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm off to bed now but I'll undelete the rest tomorrow and leave a note when it's done. I think we need to discuss this a little bit more to get the licensing tags spot on, that way we don't have similar problems in future. So, just like Arnie, I'll be back. As regards the McKenna article, did J Milburn's comments above help? Let me know if they didn't and I'll see what I can do. As he said, we take things like this seriously, and any criticisms of living people need to be very solidly sourced. Regards, Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:59, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- I have undeleted the McKenna images I deleted. If you are the one who created the images by taking the picture with your camera (not by copying off the web or from some other source), then change the copyright holder to your name and change the author to your name. Please add the date created to Image:KenMcKenna.jpg. If you took the image, you should know the date. -Regards, Nv8200p talk 13:50, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
