Bagnack/Ondoa

Both players have a very poor page, despite being full internationals. I'll do some improvement in both.

Ah, and Transfermarkt is not a reliable source, so if you saw/added links from this website, please remove it.

Thank you, MYS77 18:41, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

No problems, mate :) In Bagnack's case, that's my fault in some part, as I was the one who created him. Cheers, MYS77 21:07, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Ah, saw your last edits in Bagnack, and please: when updating stats, please update the "pcupdate" and the "updated" parameters with a complete date (five ~) or with the date of the day after the match. Thanks, MYS77 21:11, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
The template isn't correct because you're not using it. The correct use is {{Soccerway|players/REST-OF-LINK/DBNUMBER|PlayerName}} And this "playername" is only needed if you want to display a name different from the page, just like I did in Patric. MYS77 21:22, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Román

It makes no (or little) difference. Already appears in the storyline and in box that he played for Villarreal on loan. If you want to add this, no problem. Cheers, MYS77 18:28, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

Page protection

If you want to get a page semi-protected, WP:RFPP is the page you want. – PeeJay 22:19, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Unsourced honours/awards

For these sections I normally tag with {{unref section}} and then add to the list at User:Macosal/BLP. If they aren't referenced after a month then I remove them. GiantSnowman 08:33, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

It looked like your edit was to the infobox. My mistake. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:55, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Not enough disruption/vandalism to justofy protection at this point, however I have issued warnings to the 3 x IPs. GiantSnowman 16:08, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello again, and thanks for the message!

You have make several interesting points to me about your problems on the articles you want to edit, but you don't seem to have any solutions in mind. have you tried to discuss your problems with other users on the talk page? I can only help you so much because I don't specialize in sports articles and I haven't checked in on your progress in over two years. Ryan shell (talk) 21:24, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Looks like you are on the right path then. Have you considered working in an area with less arguments? Surely there is a lot of work to be in sports articles. I see several new footballer articles created every day. Maybe you should find a niche where there is less conflict? Also is English your first language? if not have you tried to do some work on another language wiki? I do some translation work and I've found it pretty rewarding.

Ryan shell (talk) 21:27, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Transfers

Having a quick look at them, they all seem to be on different-but-similar topics, so having separate articles is fine. However if you disgaree you might want to begin a WP:MERGE request. GiantSnowman 17:31, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Busquets

Hi, sorry to bother you, but I just didn't fully understand what you meant when, after you had removed some content from the Busquets article, you wrote the links were not authentic resources; in the first link (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/football-divers-video-special-ronaldo-1368863) his dive against Barcelona is mentioned. In the second link (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/busquets-defends-against-diver-label-134000956--sow.html) it mentions that he states that "diving is not play-acting but smart". Diving is mentioned in the Cristiano Ronaldo article already under the "Style of play" section, so I don't think anymore content is needed there. Sorry, I was just hoping you could clear that up for me, thanks! Best regards, Messirulez (talk) 06:44, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello, again, and thanks for your response! Yes, in the second article he defends Neymar, but also HIMFSELF from the "diver" label; the first sentence of the article is: Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has moved to defend both himself and teammate Neymar from accusations of diving, claiming "it's not play-acting, it's being smart." I think that's acceptable to mention, would you agree? It states that he and Neymar are known for embellishing, but Busquets considers it to be intelligent play. In the Neymar article, under the style of play paragraph, like in the Cristiano Ronaldo section, it also already mentions that he has been accused of diving, so I don't think anymore would need to be added there. I can remove the dailymail article as a source from the Busquets article, as I suppose the list isn't ideal, but I think this yahoo article (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/busquets-defends-against-diver-label-134000956--sow.html) sums it up quite well. In that case, can I re-add the content with that source (I will remove the bit about admitting being partial to the odd dive - someone else had written that, and it wasn't in my original version of the style of play section)? Is it a problem if the article talks about both Busquets and Neymar? It does mention Busquets's reputation and defense of diving quite clearly after all, so I don't think it should be an issue as it isn't irrelevant. Please do let me know what you think. Thanks! Best regards, Messirulez (talk) 15:04, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. I've made those changes, so please do let me know what you think! Best, Messirulez (talk) 19:53, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

re: Messi

Hi - the Leicester City account is indef blocked, so the autoblock should take care of the IP he used. We need to give the other one a little more rope with which to hang himself. Won't take much, but maybe he can be turned around into a productive editor. (I'm an incurable optimist.) ;-) KrakatoaKatie 19:10, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

  • A bot already achieved some of your received messages in User talk:Adnan n2/Archive 12 (don't know why exactly). The only thing you need to do is check this page's history (in "view history") and see if any more messages were archived. If so, you can copy then to Archive 1, and delete them from the other archive page. Cheers, MYS77 14:26, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Re:Barcelona

I'm sorry, I don't know the number of goals that Messi scored in friendlies. Hope you will find the answer though.Paulinho28 (talk) 15:17, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

re: bot archive

Sure, I'll try to help. Just so I understand - you want to move /Archive 12 back to /Archive 1, then have the bot resume archiving and continue every 75K, right?

If that's right, I'll delete /Archive 1 and move /Archive 12 into its place, and I can merge the page histories so it looks like one seamless archive. It's a pretty simple process, really. But before I do, you need to change the 'counter' value in MiszaBot's settings to '2' instead of '12'. This will cause the bot to make a new /Archive 2 page when it archives next, so we'll avoid this problem in the future. When you've done that, let me know and I'll do the move.

As a suggestion, I don't think you want to only archive threads that are 400 days old, which is your current setting. If it helps, you can look at my settings. I prefer a smaller archive so I have more archive pages, and currently I have it set to archive threads more than eight days old. Don't feel bed because I fussed with the settings for what seemed like forever until I figured it out.

Let me know when you've reconfigured the bot settings and I'll do the deed. :-) KrakatoaKatie 22:23, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Done, and thank you for the barnstar! :-) KrakatoaKatie 21:02, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Carles Puyol

I am sorry about this, but I don't "hide" behind an IP, I don't have an account OK? Also, you don't own the article, nobody does and no need to be aggressive because I never was to you. PLEASE, in footballer articles, it's customary to have CLUB CAREER followed by INTERNATIONAL CAREER, not PLAYING STYLE. And the INTERNATIONAL GOALS can be inserted in the INTERNATIONAL CAREER, it's 100% OK.

And PERSONAL LIFE is always after the sporting sections OK? Let's try an reach a consensus, from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:17, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Sure we can:) Sorry if sounded aggressive for you ,100% wasn't my intentions.. I am just using most probably complete players article on wikipedia as an example : Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo. and it makes more sense for international goals to go under section of career stats other than international career section.. it seems as this in most articles . what do you think ? and have you considered creating a username? why not my friend ? Adnan (talk) 17:23, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Not interested in creating an(other) account, after asking that my one, User:Always Learning, was destroyed due to the abuse of a troll following the 2014 UEFA Europa League Final (see more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:188.81.115.107). OK, we can leave the INTERNATIONAL GOALS section where you want, can I change the rest? Again, Messi and Ronaldo should not be cited as example for everything.

Awaiting reply --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:30, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

  • Sorry, but I did not REVERT Edgar Ié, I merely COMPOSED (I believe PERSONAL LIFE should be last, like I proposed here, so I'm being coherent). Sorry about the accusation, it looked like you were shouting and did not want to talk with me, so I asked for mediation. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:32, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Can it be CLUB CAREER/INTERNATIONAL CAREER/HONOURS/CLUB STATISTICS (with the INT'L GOALS like you want)/PLAYING STYLE/PERSONAL LIFE? Please? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:33, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

not like they are just to follow blindly.. I just used them because they are well written and organized and have many people are watching this articles so it means most people agree at the way they have been writing. and may I know what are you taking as example or why should it be the way you have said please?and it is not like even a biggie if you feel strongly about changing it,i am just curious why you think it should be this way? Adnan (talk) 17:36, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

OK, I show my reasoning: CLUB CAREER should be followed by INTERNATIONAL CAREER because both are about his career, then the achievements (HONOURS), then what he did in his career and how he achieved those honours (STATISTICS) and then the rest (PLAYING CAREER, PERSONAL), the way it is now, it does not have any apparent order (example: CLUB CAREER followed by PLAYING STYLE, his playing style affected also his international career, not just the club one).

Can I now adjust it please? Like I said, out of respect for you, i'll leave the INT'L GOALS bit where you want, even though I have edited thousands of articles with the INT'L GOALS chart below INT'L CAREER and no one changed it. Thanks for listening --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:44, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

I am not convinced to be honest but if you want to change it for this article , sure go ahead not a big deal bud :) Adnan (talk) 17:50, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, already done. Continue the good work --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:55, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Also, I don't know if you said what you said in your summary in Puyol because you thought I was this guy (here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:177.75.149.61), but I am not. He is from Brazil, I am from Portugal, and I like to work as a team, without a problem. Cheers again --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:36, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

cool man :) happy editing Adnan (talk) 18:52, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for sending me that example. There, it shows what I have been saying, CLUB C followed by INTERNATIONAL C, STATISTICS and HONOURS. No PLAYING STYLE and PERSONAL LIFE there, so I guess they can be placed at the bottom no problem (in some cases, PERSONAL LIFE is called EARLY LIFE or EARLY YEARS, and in that case, as your example shows, it goes at the top).

Happy weekend --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:19, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

actually they are saying the opposite ... check this..it seems it would be above statistics ..not at the end . since they are saying statistics and honors at the bottom..Adnan (talk) 20:29, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Again, I don't think there is any consensus. PLEASE, allow Puyol to stay as it is now, it's the only Barcelona player I edit now (sick and tired of the edit wars in Barcelona/Madrid players), you won't have any problems with me in the other (current) players. Happy weekend --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:01, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Barcelona records/statistics

Hello there,

found this in the club's official website (please see here http://www.fcbarcelona.es/club/el-palmares/detalle/ficha/records-individuales-del-fc-barcelona), I guess it's just a matter of browsing more there, I think you'll find everything you need. Plus, I think there are two versions available, English and Spanish.

Happy week --84.90.219.128 (talk) 20:28, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Commons cat

Hey mate, how are you?

I saw your edit at Sergi Samper, and I have a "tip" for you: you only add the template {{Commons cat}} if the article has an existent cat in Commons. Samper didn't have the cat, but now I created it.

Cheers, MYS77 03:45, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

@MYS77: thank you for the tip :) Adnan (talk) 03:53, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
@MYS77: by the way I have added twitter accounts to other barca players and Ronaldo from madrid should I remove them ?Adnan (talk) 03:57, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
@MYS77: ok I can do it, but may i ask why not ?I mean adding official social media account isn't like adding official website? just wondering and I already removed them all :) Adnan (talk) 04:48, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Neymar

It's suitable referenced to a reliable source (Daily Nation) so seems OK. GiantSnowman 17:27, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

You can add a player's official social network page per WP:ELOFFICIAL, except when the article already provides a link to another official website, for example, Cristiano Ronaldo. SLBedit (talk) 10:46, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

@SLBedit: so players like Sergi Samper and Gerard Piqué can or can't ? because I added both also and saw you didn't add them back, also neymar can't then since he has official website as Ronaldo then i think . he still didn't explain why he said no social media for me though anyway Adnan (talk) 14:52, 11 June 2015 (UTC).
Those players already have their official websites linked. They don't. You can add the links back. SLBedit (talk) 14:53, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
@SLBedit: ok thank you, guess I will just leave it to other people do it , if they think they want them back , already tired from all reverting thing and it is confusing , already tired of Bravo(another IP deleted the honor again) and Thomas Vermaelen honors thing also , people don't read talk pages i guess Adnan (talk) 15:00, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
An admin decided to not protect the page. SLBedit (talk) 15:02, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
@SLBedit: Yup I saw it, thank you Adnan (talk) 15:03, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

A personal website is more relevant than Facebook which is usually more relevant than Twitter. SLBedit (talk) 18:39, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

@SLBedit: Ok , thank you it seems you and @MYS77: have a disagreement about this though.Adnan (talk) 18:47, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
MYS77 is ignoring the guidelines for external links. WP:ELOFFICIAL clearly states that an official website or social network page ("author's blog and Twitter feed") can be added if "The linked content is controlled by the subject (organization or individual person) of the Wikipedia article." and if it "covers the area for which the subject of the article is notable." (football). SLBedit (talk) 18:52, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Official website is one thing, we add it for sure. But social media? No! I don't see it in Lionel Messi, neither in Cristiano Ronaldo nor in any other famous footballer. SLB is making things up. MYS77 18:51, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Messi and Ronaldo have official websites, one official link. See WP:ELMINOFFICIAL. SLBedit (talk) 18:53, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
  • My friend, after an explanation at WT:FOOTY: social networking links should generally be avoided, but an official website should be added, yes. I was talking about social media profiles at Messi and CR7 (both don't have these profiles). Cheers, MYS77 19:56, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Cool ,@MYS77: i will neither remove or add them to be honest but thank you for letting me know :) Adnan (talk) 20:12, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Good, my friend. Keep it up, cheerio :) MYS77 20:16, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Hachim Mastour has been nominated for Did You Know

Star

Thank you, but as you can see from the candidates on that nomination, it was a team effort! I had read about Mastour on columns and webpages here and there over the last year, I'm glad he has actually turned that hype into a career. '''tAD''' (talk) 20:47, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

yeah, it was blatant tactics by Spain to have Munir play for them in a COMPETITIVE match so soon after he burst onto the scene. He's better than a lot of players, no doubt about it, but it will be at least two years before he leads the line for Spain. '''tAD''' (talk) 21:00, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
