Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Admiral Raven. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Northwest University (United States), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:15, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Internship advice

[edit]

Hi Admiral Raven,

thank you very much for the disclosure. Your upload request will probably be answered soon; this may take a while but will eventually happen.

Please note that "Interns, on-loan staff, and unpaid workers, including volunteers, are deemed to be employees. If they are directed or expected to edit Wikipedia as part of their tasks, they must make a paid-contribution disclosure." I am not a lawyer and can not tell you if this is the case, or if your current disclosure already contains the required information. This is your responsibility.

To request changes in articles related to Northwest University, simply click "Talk" at the top of any article, then "New section". As subject, you could use "Requested edits" or something more specific. In the request itself, I recommend using a bulleted list when multiple changes are requested, and clearly understandable, easily implementable points such as:

(these are just examples for requests you could make)

  • Please replace "the recently constructed building on the left" by "the building on the left". Reason: relative time reference (WP:RELTIME) to be avoided.
  • Please add the sentence "..." at the end of the "History" section. Independent secondary source: https://example.com/example-document.html
  • Please remove the sentence "The university is bad". Reason: not neutral.
  • Please remove the heading "2004" and move the only sentence in that section to "History". Reason: No need for a separate section for one year.

At the bottom of your request, write "~~~~" to sign your message.

At the top of the request, use the code {{request edit}} to attract volunteer reviewers to the request, usually resulting in an answer within 24 hours.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding. If there are any questions left, feel free to ask for independent advice at the Teahouse, or on my talk page.

Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 00:00, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
