Laz is one of the otochton peoples of the south-western Caucasia. In Turkey, Laz population is condensed on the north-eastern Black Sea shore between Pazar and Hopa. There is also a Laz diaspora living around Marmara sea. Their history dates back to 5th century B.C. and originated from the ancient Colchis. Between 1st and 8th century A.D., they established the Kingdom of Lazika. In this period, they were sometimes subjected to Roman and Byzantine Empires. After 16 century, Laz people began to live under the rule of Ottoman Empire and they began to convert from Christianity to Islam. Today, the language and culture of Laz people is gradualiy assimilated and about to vanish totally.AdjarianLAZ

[edit]Greetings! I use created a userpage at User:AdjarianLAZ and also an equivalent page at Kullanıcı:AdjarianLAZ. As User: is the prefix for user pages in the English Wikipedia, I have deleted the latter title. Happy editing! —C.Fred (talk) 19:36, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hello AdjarianLAZ, nasılsınız? I see you are a native speaker of Turkish and know some Ottoman Turkish. Would you be able to add the Ottoman Turkish names of places in the Republic of Macedonia, in the relevant sections, such as in Bitola#Name? Thank you. BalkanFever 06:39, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
