Evaluations for Edit 3
[edit]12/4/2018 Evaluation by Hannahshipman
[edit]Spelling/Grammar
[edit]Meets Expectations Few if any negligible errors. Pay attention to any red squiggly lines, though; they should be easy, like how "opportunity" corrects itself if you position your cursor after the y and press the spacebar.
Language
[edit]Meets Expectations Mostly dictionary-level. Try using more active verbs and less passive voice, like in the first sentence under ownership: "Cork City Council owns the market, but Aramark Property manages daily operations on the council's behalf."
Organization
[edit]Meets expectations. Good heading and subheadings.
Coding
[edit]Perfect I noticed you put the market's coordinates, added a picture, and added the templates at the bottom (although it's not immediately clear why both fishery templates are there, since the market sells many other things as well as seafood).
Validity
[edit]Nearly meets expectations. You say there was a special police force that "kept the starving" out of the market during the famine, but the article actually says the market had a special guard a century earlier, and during the famine police drove the migrants out of the city. There is no mention of whether the market was open or closed.
Completion
[edit]Nearly meets expectations. See sources and references below. Addresses all main points, and has at least nine paragraphs, though!
Relevance
[edit]Meet expectations. Little if any irrelevant content. Irrelevant sources, maybe, but I'll let the professor grade that.
Sources
[edit]Does not meet expectations. Two or three of the links gave errors or linked to something useless. You have a pdf that looks more official in ref. 11, and one mention of a book, whose reference is incorrectly formatted (see below), and a complete lack of scholarly/academic articles to support your historical facts. The rest are news sites or seemingly self-run municipal/market pages, nothing even governmental. You have a pdf of the market floorplan, and a link to a map of where the market is (you should warn people, though, that it's primarily in Irish), but that's not enough to support the whole article.
Citations
[edit]Meets expectations Wikipedia counts 31, although that's maybe more like 26 counting in-line links and duplicates/multiple references to the same site. The citations themselves are mostly fine, although number 18 looks completely misplaced (and, also, is a non-linked reference to an earlier edition of a previously mentioned book)
References
[edit]Nearly meets expectations. Your dates are all over the place. Did you really read that article about the Queen laughing with a fishmonger last year, or about the start-up stall two years ago? Where are you getting the archive dates? That leads to the reference I keep hinting about: the difference in dates between ref. 14 and ref. 18 is explained by separate editions, but if Collins Press is located in Cork, make sure to add it; pp. needs removed if you aren't citing pages, and why are the words "historical overview" in the reference? The references seem so short, since most of them were never officially published anyway, but I suppose that's a problem for the sources, not references.
Spelling/Grammar
[edit]Exceeds Expectations I didn't see any mistakes in this category
Language
[edit]Meets/Exceeds Expectations In the "ownership" section: "The market is owned by the Cork City Council, but the day to day operations Aramark Property on the council's behalf” I thought this sentence was missing something between operations and Aramark Property. For example, "but the day to day operations are run by Aramark Property on the council’s behalf”
Also in the "ownership" section: I was going to suggest that the singular sentence, "Cork City Council and the site's traders marked the market's 230th anniversary in August 2018” was a bit lonely and to add it into one of the other paragraphs but I don’t have a suggestion into how exactly to do that and I think it still works on its own so you can think about that but it totally works the way you have it too.
Organization
[edit]Exceeds Expectations Your subsections are very clear and concise.
