The Running Man Barnstar
I hereby award you the Running Man Barnstar for always keeping the Football Portal news up to date! -- Elisson • Talk 09:51, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
Hello.
I apologise for 'spamming' your talkpage like this, but you was so helpfull to leave comments when the article on the Krag-Petersson was listed on WP:FAC. Since I've just nominated it for FAC, I would be gratefull if you could take the time to look it over and leave a comment at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Krag-Petersson.
Thank you for your time

Football featured article
Hi,
I put Denis Law on WP:FAC a few weeks ago, but its nomination failed, partly because the images were not fully tagged and partly because only three people voted in total. I'm intending to put it up again in a few days once I've sorted the images out, so I was wondering if you could make it the football featured article at the time to draw a bit more attention to it. Plus, it's a hell of a good article, even if I say so myself :-)

Hi. I applogies for 'spamming' your talkpage like this, but some time ago you was helpfull with comments on one of 'my' other articles on old Norwegian rifles and I wondered if you might be interested in helping out peer reviewing the article on the Kammerlader. At it again
I'm back at it again with my Bruce Johnson article, nominated as a FAC. He's Ohio's lieutenant governor and already at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Bruce Johnson are votes opposing. I know I am a pest, but I find when I don't go out and ask folks such as yourself--you voted for my Mark Felt FAC nomination--for their votes, my FAC's invariably are defeated. So I'd be grateful if you'd put your two cents worth in. Ave! PedanticallySpeaking 18:19, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

Denis Law
Hi,
I've put Denis Law back on WP:FAC. Could you make it the Football FAC like we discussed before? Part of the reason it failed before was a lack of votes, so it would be good if as many people as possible could see it while it's on FAC.
CTOAGN 10:22, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
Per your recommendation, I bumped the resolution. It's a vector image, so if you feel it should be larger still I'm willing to save an even larger version. ericg ✈ 23:27, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Soyuztm32.jpg
This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Soyuztm32.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dethomas 19:46, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
You recently voted oppose for this article's request to become a featured list. The main or sole reason behind your choice to oppose was that there were many red links on the article. This was in the process of being attended to by Metropolitan well before I nominated this article for FL status, so I apologize that the article was not ready to become an FL as of then. Now, though, all but a few red links have been replaced by blue links.
For the time being, your oppose vote has been stricken out because your reason for opposing has been attended to. If you still believe this article should not become a featured list, please de-strike your comment and state a new reason. If you think that because of the lack of red links, it now deserves a support vote, kindly note that below your original vote and write "support". Thank you for your vote on that page. → J@red talk+ ubx 02:48, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kent-Meridian High School, I just thought you'd like to know that the consensus for deleting High School articles now appears to be swinging back in favor of deletion. So this may indicate the beginning of another campaign to remove most High School articles. Your opinion on the AfD article would be appreciated. Unspecified source for Image:Enmax2.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Enmax2.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Leth51.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Leth51.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Unspecified source for Image:2005probowl.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:2005probowl.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. School assessments
I'm really only arguing for some consistency for the importance ratings within the school project. I suspect that some of the recent assessments have perhaps given schools a higher importance rating than is really justified which has given rise to the current inconsistencies. I was under the impression that it is only the quality ratings which are used for the purpose of WP 1.0. The importance ratings are used only within the project. Certainly as far as English schools are concerned Reading School is one of the most important schools, both in terms of its history and also in terms of its school results. It is invariably ranked within the top 10 or 20 schools in the whole country in the school league tables. Dahliarose 15:53, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Many thanks for the reasssessment. I suspect that for the purposes of WP 1.0 very few schools are of any importance whatsoever as they are not core subjects for an encyclopaedia. In MS Encarta, for instance, there are very few schools worldwide with an entry, and the vast majority of them are the old English public schools such as Rugby, Harrow and Eton. So long as the importance ratings within the schools project are applied consistently then the editors for WP 1.0 will be able to make their own judgements about which schools to include. I agree that age per se should not necessarily be the deciding factor. The recent assessments do seem to have followed this guideline however. Should some of them perhaps be downgraded? I don't think a 100-year-old school should have a mid-importance rating unless there is some other feature of the school which qualifies as many UK schools are over 100 years old. Dahliarose 16:09, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Age v. Importance in assessment
First, It is my impression that quality is supposed to be assigned by global guidelines whereas importance is project to project and acts more as a roadmap for where the project's energy should go.
That said, I understand that you have qualms about assigning importance based on age of the school. I have been using this (and original patronage) as a measure as opposed to using just current achievement mostly because my impression is that a school that has been around that long had to have community and government support to do so. It is also because schools with that much history should be easy to expand and therefor could be focussed on earlier than schools with very short histories. Whether or not age is the main measure, it needs to be part of the calculation. Adam McCormick 18:34, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
GA Review - Aquinas College, Perth
Thank you so much for reviewing this article, it is much appreciated. Many thanks! SMBarnZy 01:46, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
School assessments
I imagine that as more assessments get done there will have to be quite a few articles which get downgraded or upgraded. Once all the articles have been assessed it will be easier to establish priorites and compare the relative importance of the various articles. The older schools will probably all have published histories and long lists of notable alumni so it will be easier to expand these articles and bring them up to GA or feature status. I don't know if a school's current performance should be taken into account but you might like to have a look at The Times UK school league tables[1].
In the recent batch of assessments I suspect that Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn has been too highly rated and should be downgraded to mid importance. Colchester Royal Grammar School should probably be high importance as, in addition to its age, it is one of an elite few UK state schools which always features near the top of the school league tables, outperforming the vast majority of private fee-paying schools. Good article delist of BHS
I do not see a problem with moving down the rank of the article, but I am not sure if you may simply delist a GA on your own. I am asking into the matter. WhisperToMe 22:29, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Important!
If you did NOT go through Wikipedia:Good article review, then what you did will not count. In order to delist any article, you must go through WP:good article review. WhisperToMe 22:32, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
EDIT: "If you see an article on the GA list which clearly fails the criteria , you can delist it and remove it from the list at WP:GA immediately. To do this remove the GA tag on the article's talk page and put in its place DelistedGA. Do not use FailedGA."
If you can explain yourself by using this rationale for an immediate delist, this may be granted. If you do not provide an explanation, the delist shall be reverted. WhisperToMe 22:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, tell me what is wrong with it? I nominated it just to see if it would pass, since much of its material was sourced. I was the only person who participated in the discussion, and the closing admin passed it.
Since you removed the marking, the burden of proof is on you to explain why. In order to use "5", you must explain your actions. WhisperToMe 22:37, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay... formatting issues are easy to fix, so perhaps errors in formatting should be ironed out first. Does the article still violate 1c or did you fix all of the formatting errors?
As for 3...
"3. It is broad in its coverage. In this respect :(a) it addresses all major aspects of the topic (this requirement is slightly weaker than the "comprehensiveness" required by WP:FAC, and allows shorter articles and broad overviews of large topics to be listed); (b) it stays focused on the main topic without going into unnecessary details (no non-notable trivia)."
So, I would like to know how the article is not broad in its coverage.
Okay, so maybe the article violates "b" - But I am not quite sure what to remove. WhisperToMe 22:42, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that you made a minor formatting update on Benjamin Franklin Tilley and I know that you do a lot of work on WP:GAC. Since there's such a backlog there, would you have any advice for changes that I should make for when it eventually gets looked at for GA?
