Welcome!

[edit]

Hello AceSeeker, welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Our intro page contains a lot of helpful material for new users—please check it out! If you need help, visit Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on this page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Please don't remove refs from articles like you did with this one just because the refs have broken links. Wikipedia:Link rot explains why these do not get removed. - Ahunt (talk) 01:35, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Accuracy-searcher! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Capital Pride (Ottawa) that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you.  // Timothy :: talk  13:17, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out. Accuracy-searcher (talk) 14:42, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of LGBT events, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gay Mardi Gras. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:01, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed editing Canadian AIDS org articles

[edit]

Hi @OwenBlacker: I joined WikiProject AIDS to collaborate with other Wikipedians on this subject. I found your name there, so that's why I'm contacting you. I'm currently working on Canadian AIDS organizations, and I'm wondering if anyone could help edit and/or peer review some of the articles? Accuracy-searcher (talk) 17:06, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would be happy to peer review some when I have a chance. Feel free to post on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject AIDS and tag me there 😊 — OwenBlacker (he/him; Talk) 17:20, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@OwenBlacker: Thanks for replying, and I'll post this on the WikiProject AIDS talk page as you suggested. Do you know anyone who would be interested in copyediting or editing as well? Or can you suggest anyone else to tag who might be interested in helping? Accuracy-searcher (talk) 17:33, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Alan Herbert (Canadian politician), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page NPA.

Re: Revision 1218103690 - Request for Reconsideration of Image Removal

[edit]

Dear AceSeeker, I hope this message finds you in good spirits. I am writing to dispute the recent undoing of my image contribution to Solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 under revision 1218103690. The rationale provided was that the image had been "altered, containing too many unknown elements" and was therefore considered potential vandalism.

I would like to clarify that the image in question was indeed cropped for clarity and to better fit the encyclopedic content, not altered in a manner that misrepresents the subject or content. I would like to present the case that the changes made were purely compositional, through cropping, to enhance the presentation within the article.

Moreover, the discrepancy between the creation date and the modified date arises because the source images used were not in JPEG format, thus requiring a conversion process, which inherently updates the 'modified' timestamp. This does not imply that the content of the image was altered in any substantive way.

I am more than willing to provide any additional information or clarification needed to resolve this matter. Thank you for your time and understanding. Archangel689 (talk) 19:38, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Archangel689 (talk · contribs), Given the current situation with vandalism on the article, every detail is indeed crucial for maintaining the integrity of the content. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the scrutiny of your image contribution. I noticed that your account has only one contribution, which raises some concerns about the authenticity of the account. Can you please clarify why you are using a new account and if you have any other accounts on Wikipedia? AceSeeker (talk) 20:01, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear AceSeeker,
Thank you for your message and for your dedication to maintaining the integrity of Wikipedia's content. I understand the concerns regarding new accounts and the potential for vandalism.
The reason for using this account, which indeed has its first contribution with the submitted image, is simply because I have not felt the need to make edits to Wikipedia prior to this. I have been a long-time reader and admirer of Wikipedia's commitment to providing free information, and it was only during this particular event that I felt compelled to contribute directly, hence the creation of a new account.
I do not have any other accounts on Wikipedia. This is my sole account, created specifically to share valuable content that I believed would benefit the community and readers interested in the subject.
I hope this clarifies my position, and I am more than willing to engage in whatever process is necessary to verify my contributions and intentions. Archangel689 (talk) 20:06, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Archangel689 Feel free to repost the image, but ensure it's organized along the path of the eclipse and follows the same caption style as other images. Be careful not to disrupt the code, as this could lead to your post being flagged as vandalism. We're currently reporting images to commons if accounts repost without prior communication. Happy editing! AceSeeker (talk) 20:36, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have done this, please let me know if there are any further issues. Archangel689 (talk) 20:55, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Aceseeker, It has come to my attention that you have issued a copyright investigation regarding my own images as "Vandalism" or as my website states as "All rights reserved". These are my own photos with my watermark "MHT Aviation Photography". I do not understand the issues regarding the legality of my own photos. I have the original files including the RAW photos taken of the Eclipse in Pittsburg, NH. I put my watermark there, so people know where to find my work. There should be no issues regarding the legitimacy of those photos. I ask that you please reverse the Copyright investigation. My Wikipedia name is "KMHT Spotter", but the website I created mhtaviation.com was created in 2020 on wix.com.

If you believe it is someone else, you can contact me at my website, or here. There is no need for this Copyright Investigation when I myself inputted all the information as needed. I only added that it can be freely used with credit, so as to get proper credit when people share my photos.

- KMHT Spotter

@KMHT Spotter: Please address copyright and licensing concerns with the administrators. Additionally, images with digital watermarks or embedded credits are discouraged as the wiki is not intended for advertising or self-promotion purposes.

Canadian AIDS Society

[edit]

Hello, I am wondering if you have personal or professional connection to this organization, or other committees and organizations you're editing on? I am seeing fair bit of poor sourcing and original research, such as coming to the conclusion they were shown "prominently" but the claim they were shown prominently was not made in a source independent of them. Graywalls (talk) 14:05, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Graywalls Thank you for reaching out. Regarding your question about any personal or professional connections to the organizations I'm editing on. I want to clarify that I do not have any affiliations with AIDS organizations or related groups, either personally or professionally. My involvement as a volunteer Wikipedia editor is solely driven by my dedication to improving the platform. Currently, I am focusing on enhancing articles related to AIDS as part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject AIDS community.
I will review the information that you deleted, and perhaps we can collaborate to ensure that it aligns with Wikipedia guidelines while accurately representing the subject matter. AceSeeker (talk) 14:57, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
