Abhi Sirohi March 2nd S.S P.1 Westward Expansion
Through the 1800’s till the 1900’s a lot of very important events occurred in the United States history. The Westward Expansion was one of the most important of these events. The Westward Expansion brought America land. The travels of Lewis and Clasrk brought about extensive changes in the United States. The louisiana purchase opened up the West for America. The Louisiana Purchase was gave America 529,911,681 acres of land from France in 1803. The cost of this was 3 cents per acre, 15 million dollars. per acre. The lands purchased contained Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota west of the Mississippi River, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, northern Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, the portions of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado east of the Rocky Mountains, the portions of southern Manitoba, southern Saskatchewan and southern Alberta that drain into the Missouri River, and Louisiana on both sides of the Mississippi River including the city of New Orleans. All this land together creates about 22.3 percent of present day United States. The Oregon Trail was an overland migration route which was over 2,000 miles west through Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon. The Oregon Trail was finally completed in 1841 and used by long distance travelers until 1869, when the Transcontinental railway had been completed. The mexican cession gave America land after the war. The United States still payed 20 million dollars for the land. In conclusion the westward expansion gave america land and if it had not happened we would not have as much land as we do now.
Abhi Sirohi March 13th L.A P.7 Revision Explanation
My intro paragraph was pretty well done. The only thing that I changed in it were a few little changes that made the sentence structure flow nicely. See highlighted. My body paragraphs before the revision were confusing. The quotes that I used just said the same thing I had just explained in the previous sentence. It did not add to the paragraph. When I did my revision I changed the quotes I used so that it added to the paragraphs and did not repeat the same things over. I changed a few words ato make the sentence structure better. My last body paragraph was not chronological before the revision. I changed that so that it was chronological and made more sense. See highlited I did not have a conclusion paragraph before I did my revision. This made the essay look incomplete. When I did my revision I added a good conclusion paragraph that tied to the introduction paragraph. This gave a good ending and added a lot more to the essay. See highlited. After revising this paper I learned a lot about how to make a paper better. Revising is always a good idea after you have finished an essay. When revising a paper you realize what you have done wrong and have the ability to change it. If you don’t revise, you will miss little things like sentence structure and indenting your new paragraphs and those little mistakes can make a big change in the final grade of your paper.
