Recent updates to the History of Portman Building Society have been added. I work for Nationwide Building Society in the archives team so have access to Portman Archives. Majority of the information was taken from The Portman Story 1846 - 2001 by Jonathan Mantle. I've also recently made an update to the timeline, no major changes, just making it clear that when Portman joined with Wessex Building Society the name changed to Portman Wessex Building Society, But after the merger the merger with Regency West the name then reverted back to Portman Building Society
