1. Plans for Expanding The Cleveland Gazette
[edit]As of now, the article only contains a brief overview of The Cleveland Gazette. I would like to add a picture of the front page of the newspaper. I also plan to add information regarding the founding/establishment of the newspaper, the beginning years of the newspaper, the content shift of the newspaper, and the demise of the newspaper. Brief descriptions of the types of information that each area might cover are shown below:
1. Founding and establishment: For this area, I plan on incorporating some background information on Harry Clay Smith and the initial purpose of creating The Cleveland Gazette.
2. Beginning years: This area will likely include information about the paper's original content, the size of its audience, and the feedback/popularity status it first received.
3. Content shift: For this area, I plan to highlight certain changes that took place in the newspaper (name change, layout of content change, etc.) in the 1890s and explain why those changes occurred.
4. Demise: I plan to provide information that shows why the newspaper lost popularity and eventually stopped being published.
Depending on the amount of information I can find, the four areas listed above will either become simply four sections of information or four sections with information organized into subsections.
2. Inventory List of Research
[edit]To successfully expand my chosen stub article, I will need to complete the following research:
• Background information on Harry Clay Smith and the creation of The Cleveland Gazette.
• Information regarding the audience of the newspaper (size, characteristics, etc.)
• Content (political and social) information
• Information about the newspaper's demise
• Picture of front page
3. Similar Article
[edit]The article on the Western Appeal is a good example of what I would like to do to my article. It contains a picture of the front page of the Western Appeal, and I want to add a picture of the front page of The Cleveland Gazette when I expand its article. Also, the subsections under the History section in the Western Appeal article are similar to the four sections I would like to add to my chosen stub article. I plan on providing more content information in my stub article expansion than the Western Appeal article contains.
