User talk:Aaekia
Aaekia, thanks for explaining why you deleted my post.
Yes, I'm connected with the company Serenity Storage. Compared with a company like McDonald's, they probably have people that spend their careers managing their on-line presence. I think it would be naive to believe that a large company has no influence on their Wikipedia article. That prevents smaller businesses like ourselves from participation.
Regarding notability, our company does have five locations in Missouri. That places us within the top 100 largest self-storage operators in the United States according to a ranking of self-storage facilities by the Self Storage Association. Yes, my posting did not say that because I had planned to add to that article over time. I didn't know that I had to impress someone with my initial posting. Are you a subject matter expert in the self-storage industry to be able to make a distinction over what is or isn't notable within the industry?
Yes, I understand that its apples and oranges comparing our smaller business to McDonalds. When I was younger I personally loaded Bill Gate's 4K Basic program into an Altair 8080 using paper teletype tape. I remember Jobs and Wozniak selling Apple computer kits out of their garage. Using your notability standards, neither Bill Gates or Jobs/Wozniak were notable at the time of their historic accomplishments.
I have since learned from our discourse that Wikipedia's standards are not useful to the entrepreneur. I was wasting my time yesterday with that. McDonalds still sells Coca-Cola because a salesman at Coke gave Ray Kroc favorable terms at the beginning. McDonalds has a long institutional memory and has remembered that and repaid Coca-Cola many times over for that kindness. Serenity Storage is already within the top 100 self-storage operators. I will remember this discourse and actively discourage any listing for our company on Wikipedia as we grow larger in the future as Wikipedia is not helpful or useful to the small business owner.
Thanks for helping me understand the limitations of Wikipedia.
Best of luck on your project, Dave Kolstedt — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkolstedt (talk • contribs) 17:04, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Automatic archiving
[edit]Aaekia, you can have bots automatically archive your user talk periodically if you don't like it getting to long. If you put the following on your user talk page:
{{User:MiszaBot/config | algo=old(90d) | archive={{SUBST:FULLPAGENAME}}/Archive %(counter)d | counter=1 | maxarchivesize=400K | archiveheader={{Automatic archive navigator}} | minthreadsleft=4 | minthreadstoarchive=1 }}
The bots would move posts to a separate archive page if there's no comments on a section after 90 days, leaving a minimum of 4 sections on the page. You can change 90d to a different number to archive sooner or later, and the minthreadsleft can be made higher or lower as your prefer. Archiving is preferable to blanking, as it leaves the old discussions easier to read. Thanks, Oiyarbepsy (talk) 07:40, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Ed Lyon
[edit]Hi! I was wondering if you deleted my article on Ed Lyon. If you did, would you kindly tell me why? I believe I followed all of Wikipedia's guidelines and see no reason for the deletion of the article. Thanks.Bartolomeorastrelli (talk) 19:29, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Hello again - the Ed Lyon page has now been restored. I am told by User:Aronzak that I used too many primary and self-published sources and that that is why the article was removed. I will now read up on writing biographies on Wikipedia! With regards to notability, I think that Ed Lyon is certainly worthy of a page - he is a top international soloist. - The admin reverted it. The aticle has 13 refs, including New York Times and major British mastheads. Cheers. -- Aronzak (talk) 19:34, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
