Speedy deletion nomination of Philip Mark Plotch

A tag has been placed on Philip Mark Plotch requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.saintpeters.edu/news/2014/06/23/philip-mark-plotch-ph-d-appointed-director-of-masters-program-in-public-administration/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Status and Advice
[edit]I'd rather answer your question on-wiki. Under present law, anything published in any medium is copyright unless specified otherwise. This includes press releases. And, as is customary, the press releases you copied bear the copyright symbol at the bottom, stating the intellectual property is owned by the university. Until the mid 20th century in the US, this statement was necessary for copyright, but now everything published is copyright automatically. What you need to do is to write the material on your own, changing not justthe wording, but the sequence. WP bios usually begin with some biographical information, then list the successive positions, and then the accomplishments and awards. Almost as important, I do not think this material would pass a deletion discussion. There are two possible standards, WP:PROF and the WP:GNG, and I do not see how he meets either of them. One published book is not academic 1 notability, and for the GNG You would need references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources, not press releases or mere announcements . His own essays don't work for this, nor publications from his own university.
What I'd suggest you do is add a reference to his book to our article on the bridge. DGG ( talk ) 17:04, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
