Location map of Tibet needed

Lists of Japanese Representatives
[edit]Hi ASDFGH, I have a question on the lists of members of the House of Representatives you created, particularly Representatives elected in the Japanese general election, 2005. Does it list the Representatives (+party affiliations) elected in 2005 as stated or are these the members in 2009 before the election? In the former case, I could use the list to recheck the German list for completeness (before I move on to some non-political topics) without having to search through the official results from 2005. Would save me some tedious (and in that case, redundant) work. Thanks in advance for any information, Asakura Akira (talk) 21:11, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

The name of the city of Canton
[edit]Because the origin of the name "Canton" in English as well as other European languages can be traced back to the 16th century, well preceded any formal romanization methods for Chinese, and due to its wide usage in the past, it is necessary to list it with the new name.
Just as Rome, Naples and Athens are not listed under Roma, Napoli and Athenae in the English wikipedia, the name Canton should at least appear side-by-side with Guangzhou, if not replace it.
The name "Canton" was brought to Europe at approximately the same time as Macao, and probably earlier than Hongkong. Unless "Macao" and "Hongkong" are completely superseded by "Aomen" and "Xianggang", I see no reason to eliminate this traditional name from English wikipedia. As a matter of fact, wikipedia of Spanish, Italian, Catalan, Česky, French, Greek, Esperanto, Dutch and many others retain Canton as the entry's main title.

I find it kind of funny that the last major kerfuffle we had on this article involved an editor who insisted that Canton was NOT a synonym for Guangzhou. --NeilN talk ♦ contribs 03:01, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Metropolitan regions of China
[edit]Hi,
I noticed the huge amount of work that you've done recently for articles on the metropolitan regions of China. It's great to see so many informative articles being written and I want to thank you for it. I also have a few questions, though.
Regarding the "National Capital Region," I'm afraid I've never heard of the term "京洲" being used to refer to the region. I've run Google searches of terms like "京洲", "京洲城市圈", "京洲城市群", etc. and I could not find any reference that uses the term "京洲" in this way either. I was wondering if you could cite to the source where you got this term. Also, if this term is extremely rare, I'm wondering whether it is justifiable to have a Wikipedia article on it.
For "Yellow River Delta and Bohai", I am pretty sure the usual term is "环渤海". This is how the Chinese Wikipedia refers to it, for example. In fact, I'm pretty sure that "Yellow River Delta," if it is used at all, is used to refer to a much smaller area, around Dongying: [1], which is hardly a major metropolitan area.
I am pretty sure that the term "吉黑龙" is not used. Please indicate the source where you got it from.
I am also pretty sure that the "Yangtze Mid-Section" (长江中部) metropolitan region is not the most common term for the region. A google search suggests that "武汉城市圈" is the more common term.
Finally, I'm pretty sure no one -- especially no one in Taiwan -- calls the entire length of Taiwan's west coast "臺灣海峽東岸城市群". In fact, a Google search shows that the vast majority of contexts where the term "臺灣海峽東岸" comes up at all is when it is talked about in contrast to the Fujian side, i.e. "臺灣海峽西岸". And of course, there's also the issue of the status of Taiwan, which deserves sensitive treatment in any article that has the word "China" in its title.
In short, I think there are some serious issues in the terminologies that you are using in the articles related to these metropolitan regions, and I urge you to back your writing up with better citations.
-- ran (talk) 01:34, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- As it seems that many of the above terms cannot be verified, I have added verification tags to Metropolitan regions of China, National Capital Region (China), and Yellow River Delta and Bohai Rim. Please check the content and either add sources where available, or remove original research. Thank you. -- ran (talk) 02:02, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hi I agree with Ran here, I've searched 京洲 but all it came out was a Company's name. There might not be a "京洲" at the moment, however, I think there are great similarities between "京津冀城市群" and "京洲". I've added "京津冀城市群" tag to the National Capital Region (China) page. If you disagree then remove but the article will sit empty, unless we completely renovate it to fit "京津冀城市群" which is more relevant. On a side note, I've fixed the "Yellow River Delta and Bohai" page. --LLTimes (talk) 22:01, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Eight-party Alliance/meta/shortname
[edit]A tag has been placed on Template:Eight-party Alliance/meta/shortname, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Btilm 03:21, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello, first of all, thank you for the contribution and interest in Korean geography related articles. I've known of your fine image contribution, so I assume that your insertion of hanja to the top of infobox is based on your good faith. However, since hanja is already addressed in such infobox, and hanja is only a supplement in Korean writing system, so I have to revert your addition of hanja from the time being. I believe your addition is also not a convention for Korean geography related articles. Would you stop inserting additional hanja at the top of geolocation infobox? Please discuss the matter at WT:KOREA#Additional hanja to the top of Infobox settlement if you want to get a consensus on this. Thanks.--Caspian blue 02:59, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Administrative divisions of South Korea#Proposed/Planned to become a metropolitan city and special autonomous city. Sorry. Part of Gyeonggi province can not be 'Metropolitan City'. The policy of korean government control Sudogwon Region's overpopulation. ex, Suwon has already 1 million population(In rule, '1 million population' is one of requirements to be 'Metropolitan City'). but, it couldn't be 'Metropolitan City'. because it is part of Sudogwon area.--Dmthoth (talk) 19:49, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Latest edits on Guangzhou Metro
[edit]I appreciate your continuous effort in improving Guangzhou Metro. However, I have to say that your latest edits changing numeric names of Guangzhou Metro lines into nonnumeric names should be reverted.
Having been riding Guangzhou Metro since Line 1 went into operation, I have never heard of Guangzhou Metro formally adopting nonnumeric names over numeric names for its lines. In fact, numeric names are used ubiquitously—you see them in every station and hear them in on-board announcements. In contrast, if you search for “"广州地铁" "芳村线"” on Google and Baidu, most results are unrelated websites while the few related ones are merely unofficial blog and forum posts.
I wanted to help with restoring the numeric names but found out that a number of articles had been modified. Perhaps you know the best about what has been modified and are in a better place to do the restoration. Kxx (talk | contribs) 11:26, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Beijing and Shanghai montages
[edit]Hi ASDFGH, the montages you created for both cities are very nice. However, I was wondering if you can make some adjustment for the montages.
For Beijing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Beijing_montage.png) you used Tiananmen, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Stadium and Beijing CBD as the montage, but its probably better to use different images for them. The image for Beijing National Stadium is exactly the same one as the first image in that article, and the image for Temple of Heaven is the same image used for all the Wikiproject China pages, thus I think it would be best to use different ones for the montage, so its not repetitive. Use a different image (a daylight) for Tiananmen would help as well? The original Temple of Heaven picture in the Beijing article is a good fit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TempleHeaven1.jpg) and a portion of this image could work (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Birdsnestpanorama.jpg). Either way, the montage is your work, you make the decisions.
For the Shanghai montage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Shanghai_montage.png), I think its best to replace the Expo image at the bottom. Especially Shanghai has landmarks that are much better known than a pair of Expo pavilions.--TheLeopard (talk) 01:18, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
