Help

Hey again. I've edited it for you. See here. Hope this is roughly what you were looking for? AddWittyNameHere (talk) 18:48, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm female. ;) You're welcome. I've also added a footnote to the Assembly elements table at Adilabad (Lok Sabha constituency), as I think that was what you were trying to do, yes? AddWittyNameHere (talk) 19:09, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
AddWittyNameHere. Het spijt me. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 19:11, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
No problem, just figured I'd point it out. So you speak Dutch as well, or did you look that up just for me? AddWittyNameHere (talk) 19:15, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
AddWittyNameHere. Naah, I don't speak, just showing off :-). By the way, check out the edit you did. I did some R & D on your work and finally managed to get to what I wanted. Thanks a lot. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 19:16, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
You're very welcome. :) If you need help on other points or other articles, feel free to poke me (even though I'm not that much more experienced, I suppose. I have a few more months in experience, but you have maybe a 100 edits less than I in total. You work fast!) AddWittyNameHere (talk) 19:22, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
  • AddWittyNameHere, you offered to help and here I am. I wrote an article just now and now I feel that it will fail WP:BLP. It is a very sensational issue right now in India (Google it) but I assume it is based only on one incident and hence might not warrant having a separate article. Check Mehr Tarar. If this is out of place, then can you please delete it. I stopped the edit the moment I realized it may be wrong to keep this article alive. Sorry for the trouble. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 19:26, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
In its current state, there's a fair chance it'll be deleted as either non-notable person or per WP:NOTNEWS. There do seem to be plenty of independent non-primary sources discussing the fight between Mehr Tarar and the death of Sunanda Pushkar, but not many discussing Mehr Tarar outside that context. If you want to make an article about it, I would suggest an article about the controversy, rather than the non-notable person involved in it. However, that might still fail WP:SENSATION, so I suggest waiting for now, self-nominate the article on Mehr Tarar for Speedy Deletion (or I could do so for you, if you want), update the information on the Sunanda Pushkar article to a reasonable degree and see if the controversy is still newsworthy in a few days and/or if it has any lasting influence. Recent news and events tends to be non-notable unless it can already be shown it will have a lasting impact (such as an earthquake killing several people, an aircrash in which a president of a country dies, etc.) AddWittyNameHere (talk) 19:43, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I saw your help request. I have nominated the article for speedy deletion per your request. I do agree with your reconsideration of the notability of the subject. Seems an unremarkable individual known for one event. But more importantly and more seriously, it is a biography of a living person (WP:BLP) that has seriously negative connotations and is potentially libelous both for the unproven suggestion of infidelity, as well as for the provocative statement "Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances", which could be perceived as an intimation that one of the subjects mentioned in the article had some involvement in that death. No biggy though, you were proactive. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:46, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
It's not troubling me at all. In fact, I much prefer someone who creates an article, then reconsiders and realizes it's probably not suitable for inclusion on WP (showing that you think about what you're doing and are very willing to consider the site's rules and guidelines) over someone who keeps insisting in spite of all rules that it should be kept. All this does is show that you're a reasonable, thinking person willing to abide by the site's rules, willing to ask for help when needed and willing to accept you've made a mistake. That makes you exactly the kind of person Wikipedia needs. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 19:50, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Dear Cyphoidbomb. I agree with you and that's why I had second thoughts and got nervous about the page. Last thing I wanted was an unwarranted page on Wikipedia. Right now on Indian news channels, Mehr is more famous than Michael Jackson ever was :-P; but that should not ask for a page. Sorry again. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 19:51, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Don't worry about it! And I agree with AddWitty's assessment: The sign of a good editor is their ability to question their own edits. Don't worry, we won't throw you to the dogs! Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:55, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Good morning Cyphoidbomb & AddWittyNameHere, I opened Wikipedia site just now and noticed that the article in discussion is surviving. One user "Drgauravsinghal" removed the speedy deletion tag and people have started adding material to the page. I will refrain from making any edits to the page and if you recommend I can nominate the article for AfD. Let me know please. 09:31, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Nomination of Mehr Tarar for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Mehr Tarar is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mehr Tarar until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 12:39, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Need second opinion

Hello Abhi, we met at Mehr Tarar's Talk Page. Need your help / second opinion. Can you check Milind Murli Deora's talk page? I saw it yesterday and found it very promotional in nature. Lot of the edits have been reverted by an experienced user after I raised the issue. Also, in the talk page, I have highlighted 4 user accounts that have been carrying out major edits on the article. Is there a possibility they are linked? I suspect because they came into existence after one of the accounts was blocked. Indian politics is my interest area and most of my work in going in that direction. Any suggestions for joining any workgroup? Looking forward. Thanks in advance. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 06:28, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Not going to look into the Milind Murli Deora issue, because you already asked Abhi, but regarding the workgroup, there is Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian politics and of course the main WikiProject India WP:INDIA. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 06:32, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Goedemorgen Ms. Witty, thanks once again. As they say, "more the merrier"; so should time permit, give that article a look please. I had already troubled you couple of times and hence did not want to disturb you again on this matter. I will review the project pages and understand how to join them. Havea good day. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 06:37, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
Good morning to you as well. =) Will look into it at some point, but I believe that Abhi is more knowledgeable about Indian politics, so they might have a better idea of the context. I can just compare it to the refs, do a couple of google searches and check it with the current policies and guidelines. Nonetheless, if you like me to look into it, I will do so-and do not worry about disturbing me. If I somehow do not have the time or energy to look into something, I'll let you know. Unless I do, feel free to assume that I am willing to look into it. =) AddWittyNameHere (talk) 06:42, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Recent changes patrolling

Hi, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk). After speaking with you earlier, I thought I would tell you a little more about Huggle. This program makes intervention against vandalism much easier, and standardises the warnings and edit summaries. You would first want to request the WP:Rollback permission by adding your name to this page. The reason for your request would be something like, "I wish to use WP:Huggle to patrol recent changes for vandalism." Once it has been approved (which it usually is, if your edit history shows that you can tell the difference between good-faith edits and vandalism), you can install Huggle from this page. The project home page is here: WP:HG. You should find instructions and lots of help there. I would strongly recommend you apply for this "rollbacker" permission, and try using Huggle. It really does make things a lot easier! Please let me know on my Talk page if you have any questions. —Josh3580talk/hist 16:28, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

  • Hi User:Josh3580, Thanks for the information. I noticed that some software are available but my problem is little different; I am very inexperienced - not even and autoconfirmed user :-) and less than 1,000 edits (I am not sure if you know but there is a tool called Skiti and it asks for 1,000 edits). I guess I have to wait for some more time for some rights. Much appreciate your help. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 17:09, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Roger Ailes: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Auric talk 13:44, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

My Talk Page vandalised

Dear Gilliam, Firstly, thanks for blocking IP 122.162.141.215 who vandalised page Cinema of India. This user has vandalised my Talk Page as well. I am fairly new and am not sure if I should leave this message as it is for archiving OR should I delete it? Please help. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 09:41, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

I would delete any vandalism on my user page/talk page. It's your user talk page, and you're not obligated to archive abusive discussions. I can even semi-protect your user page to prevent vandalism, if you'd like.- Gilliam (talk) 09:45, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Gilliam, I am not sure if I need protection as it is only one chap (using different IPs) who is doing it. Reason I asked for deleting is, I am not sure how will my Talk Page history behave in future if I start deleting stuff. Now that you told me its ok to do so, I am going to delete the message. Thanks a lot for the help. Have a good day, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 09:48, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar! It's much appreciated. If you need anything else, you know where to find me.- Gilliam (talk) 09:59, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
Dear Gilliam, That's the least I could do and I sure will contact you should I need help. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 10:01, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Page semi-protected

I've semi-protected this page and the target of the ip-hopper is also semi-protected. A range block may be necessary but it would cut a very wide path. Let's see if this fixes it. Toddst1 (talk) 13:09, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm going to retire your AIV report since most of those IPs are blocked already and the others haven't edited in a while. If this recurs, please take it to WP:ANI as that messageboard is better suited to more complex issues like this. Thanks. Toddst1 (talk) 13:18, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Move page Ahimsa to Ahinsa

Hello Gilliam, I request you for moving page Ahimsa to Ahinsa since Ahinsa is the correct pronunciation. I cannot move the page since target page already exists (it was redirected which I have removed). You can Google and verify it. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:32, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry but no editor can perform such a large move without obtaining consensus on the Ahimsa discussion page. Not only that but Ahimsa has been elevated to WP:Good article status by the community (denoted by the green symbol in the upper right hand corner), so its title has been well established.- Gilliam (talk) 16:40, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello Argyriou, I made a revert on this page which was later reverted by you (this). Reason I reverted the edit was that it was not at all referenced. Since you are clearly more experienced than I am, I would like to understand the rational behind retaining the earlier version. Please advice. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 18:28, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Just a word of advice: you should voice your concerns on the other user's talk page (User talk:Argyriou), instead of your own. That way, people will get notifications and they will be able to respond faster. Of course, they might still get notifications if you link their name within a post, but ping notifications (linking to other people's userpages in your posts) are optional and may not be received. Epicgenius (talk) 23:01, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
The added material was generally true; the lack of referencing is something which can be fixed, either by the person who made the original edit, or others, later. However, the material did read like an ad for hydrologists, so I did some extensive rewriting, because as it was the addition was not suitable. Argyriou (talk) 00:12, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
As it turns out, the material was copied from the USGS website without proper sourcing. If the original IP poster doesn't clean up and source this in the next day or two, I will. See conversation between User:Velella and I for details. Argyriou (talk) 00:41, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

UN Resolution 678

You wrote "Resolution 678 was UN legalization of war in Iraq" and that's not true. Resolution 687 does not mention war, authorization to USA-led coalition, attack on Iraq ... nothing! Any UN resolution (in last 50 years) when one country occupies another country containing the same form " request withdrawal of army by a specific date or be implement all specific measures. And that's not the legalization of war and it does not give UN authorization to a third party for the attack. Every war in South and Central America, Africa, Asia, the Balkans and the Middle East (including Israel's occupation of Jordan, Syria and Egypt) contain this same form and this is Un practice.

Legalization is when UN has controle on international force, when UN determines beginning of the attack, when UN determines a date for the end of the war , when UN determines conditions for the end of the war.

UN never did not give authorization to USA-led coalition, UN did not have international forces under own control, UN has not determines a start date and the end of the war date and UN did not determines conditions for the end of the war. In fact, UN Secretary-General had said " USA terms for the end of the war (no-fly zones) are illegal and contrary to international law.

So, resolution 678 has no connection with Gulf War legalization or authorization to USA-led coalition. Perhaps the UN made a mistake (normally is very precise organization where each word in the resolution must be very precise) and UN resolution does not mention legalization, authorization to USA coalition, permission to USA coalition to act on behalf of UN... or you're wrong when you wrote that UN legalized the Gulf War (your source is resolution is 678 but resolution does not mention any legalization of USA attack).

Today, about the war in the Gulf , in South America, Muslim world, China, Russia and ex USSR countries,India, most countries in Asia and Africa, no one mentions this propaganda "Un legalization" or "Un authorization to USA-led coalition." In EU, and other non EU countries of Western Europe they use the term "alleged legalization" and only United States used propaganda phrases " UN authorization to USA-led coalition" or " Un legalization" . Wikimedia read by people all over the globe and USA is 2% of humanity. UN never in any resolution did not mention legalization of war, authorization to coalition and resolution 678 is not considered to "legalize" war or "giving authorization to coalition" (because none of these claims is not written in resolution) and what you think is much less important than what it says in UN resolution

Need your views

Dear Gilliam, Toddst1, Cyphoidbomb, AddWittyNameHere & Epicgenius. I made nomination for WP:GA. Well, I could have been wrong in nominating the article and have no shame in admitting & reverting my nomination (if need be). However, I was not expecting such a rude comeback. Normally I refrain from confrontations but somehow I ended up writing what I wrote. Reason I am bringing this to your notice is for two things; a) If I was that big a criminal in the WP:GA nomination and how should I go about in the future? b) How should I handle such rude and in the face comebacks from people. Best part; that user is being authoritative and he is not even an admin. Please help me improving my understanding better on matters like these. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 15:24, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

The editor who replied to your nomination hasn't reviewed it yet, so you can disregard their comments. To review this article for GA, a review page must be created at Talk:Sunder Lal/GA1. --Epicgenius (talk) 15:32, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
No, most failed GA notations are not like this. One notable exception which I remember is User:Retrolord, who is now indefinitely blocked for his disruption. (see this archive if you are interested) Epicgenius (talk) 15:47, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
My apologies for not responding, but I figured I'd wait and see if one of the others you asked would respond. I have very little experience with GA or its nomination process, so all I could have given you was my personal opinion. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 15:56, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks Epicgenius & AddWittyNameHere, For sure I don't want to add nuisance value to Wikipedia and hence, if the nomination is bad then it is best I withdraw it. Only reason I nominated one article was it met all the requirements as listed and hence best to my judgement, it was a good case of nomination atleast. Good article or not is something that experienced editors have to decide. Let me know if I should withdraw the nomination, and I would do so happily. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:00, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • In my opinion, the article's prose could be expanded a little more; it may fail GAN at its current length. But it was a good nomination. You managed to stay calm despite the fact that the other editor criticized you, and that is a good thing. Epicgenius (talk) 16:05, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the encouragement Epicgenius, people like you and AddWittyNameHere make this volunteer work, worth my time. I would love to expand the article as I am doing with this & this articles (both in progress). In my years of reading on Wiki, I have noticed that Indian politics and place related articles are not upto the mark. For example, look at this this and compare it to most of the Indian politician articles. That's where I am trying to reach and I am sure with proper guidance and support, I will make some positive impact. Thanks again. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:25, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

about the recent changes

I am not sure what you mean by adding Citation. I just added Divorce details which was already mentioned out there in her page. And its a news found every where on net. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gokulkrishna123 (talkcontribs) 17:22, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

  • Hello. I have edited / updated the article but have deleted one controversy mentioned therein as the news report appears to be highly dubious and biased. For example, the news article mentions "Few months later, her name was again in the news due to her 'blue film' CDs. Even now one can find those CDs in the shops of Burma Bazaar. Somebody selected few 'good' scenes from those CDs and circulated them through the cell phones as MMS.". I have not seen any credible news reports that talks about where a blue film CD (involved in a controversy) can be purchased from. This is highly biased content to my understanding and hence I am not comfortable in mentioning it in the article. But that's my view, you can ask another experienced editor for their views and see if that can be included in the article. As far as uploading image is concerned, please refer WP:IMAGE. Trust I was able to offer some help. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:58, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey AKS, I think you may have made a typographical mistake at AddWittyNameHere's talk page – you said "hell" instead of "hello". Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Rucha Gujarati a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Rucha Gujarathi. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:33, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Stuart Plenderleith

Hello AKS.9955, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Stuart Plenderleith, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: competing for Australia is an assertion of importance. International level in sport is usually deemed notable. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 07:12, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
