Thank You
[edit]Thanks AJCham...I appreciate your assistance. I am continuing to make progress with the page. It has come a long way don't you think? I am going to begin working on the Hebrew translation very soon. I was counting on input from Chzz during that time (not for the translation but for any logistical issues that might arise). However, he did provide me with the basic framework of how to proceed with an international page....the reverse links to each page etc. Are you also familiar with this procedure in case I have questions or is there someone else that you could recommend? With my appreciation for your input and guidance. Clou2epstein (talk) 02:06, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, not a problem. The main thing to worry about is making sure you comply with the GFDL and CC licenses, but I'm sure Chzz already mentioned that. AJCham 03:27, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Could you make all these updates and move everything to production?
I could do the necessary changes after production (cleaning).

[edit]Just got told by someone else. As I said to someone else, "Very well. Thanks for settling this. I was getting fed up of him seeming to not even read what I was writing and, frankly, didn't care who was right as long as it was finished. Thanks for coming along when you did." I picked up misinformation from somewhere. Sorry for causing hassle. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:53, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Civil War Question Response
[edit]Where would I post the question in the American Civil War Project page?Red Wiki 01:29, 10 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Valkyrie Red (talk • contribs)
- You could just leave a message on the Task Force's talk page, where any member of the project can see it. You could also contact one of the participants directly on their talk page. You can see a list of the participants here. I notice a few of them specifically mention an interest in the Virginia battles, so they may be the most helpful in this regard. Of those, Joe N and Arbogastlw seem to be the most active. If you do decide to drop one of them a note, be sure to explain why you are approaching them specifically (ie. You notice they are a member of the Civil War task force, and may be knowledgeable about VA in particular). Hope that helps, AJCham 01:40, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
You nominated it for deletion. Please see the OTRS notice at the top of User talk:VAwebteam: User:VAwebteam is an official representative of the Victoria and Albert Museum. All uploads of V&A material by this user are cleared by OTRS ticket ID 1332999. Ty 03:34, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, this was pointed out to me in IRC by User:Skomorokh shortly after it was tagged and deleted. The deleting admin has since restored the file. At the time the file description page did not indicate the OTRS ticket number as it should have, so as far as I and User:Rjd0060 were concerned it looked to be a straightforward copyright violation of the indicated source. My understanding is that there is still some uncertainty over the validity of the ticket, and this is being looked into. AJCham 03:45, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
It wasn't deleted, as I removed the tag. The permission was all sorted out in February 2008. See User_talk:VAwebteam#Victoria_and_Albert_Museum_images:
- For all images from the V&A website that you upload to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, you are hereby authorized to place {{PermissionOTRS|https://secure.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom&TicketID=1332999}} on the image description pages. This indicates that an agent from the V&A Museum has indeed confirmed the terms of the image licensing. Regards, howcheng {chat} 23:04, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Please keep a look out to make sure this doesn't happen to others of VAwebteam's images. Thanks. Ty 14:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- I can assure you it was deleted, and quickly restored as I have described above. I guess Rjd0060 must have neglected to remove the tag after restoration. I have already stated that I was made aware of the text on VAwebteam's talk page moments after the file was tagged and deleted, so there is no need to draw it to my attention a second time. As for not letting such things happen again, it is hardly my fault if the OTRS information was not posted to the file description page. I'm not in the habit of checking user pages for OTRS tickets, and shouldn't need to be. AJCham 17:13, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Question regarding article
[edit]Hello, I was reviewing articles submitted to DYK and was wondering if User:72.74.205.185 was your contributes while logged out on articles Joe Pedicino and Boni Blackstone? Thanks Calmer Waters 05:57, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- No, I reviewed the articles when they were submitted to Articles for Creation and moved them into the mainspace. User:72.74.205.185 was the original creator, and presumably does not have an account. AJCham 06:04, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for the prompt reply. I just wanted to assure that the correct editors recieve credit for nominations and wanted to take a moment to ensure that it was not a case of not logging in or issue with the DYK template. Thank you. Kindly Calmer Waters 06:09, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, if you move templates, could you please ensure that you move their documentation pages as well? Thanks :) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:10, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I hadn't forgotten! (You'll notice that by the time of your post I had already moved the doc pages). AJCham 09:12, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Do you see the checkbox to "move all subpages"? Or is it only admins that get that function? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:17, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- I guess it's only admins, or perhaps some script you may have installed. I see the option to move the associated talk page, but not the subpages, so I have to do that manually afterwards. AJCham 09:20, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ah yes, it's called "move-subpages" on Special:ListGroupRights. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:43, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Cluedo WOrldwide Differences Changes
[edit]Hi, not that I disagree with your change on the Cluedo page, but was hoping you could clarify your rationale – redundant interlanguage link - avoid self reference, and anything worth mentioning about the German edition can be covered here.
I actually listed the German site there because I never knew that interlanguage links were on the side of the page and was unsure how to reference them in the article (assuming most others would fail to realize it as well). So I had intended to just list the major language distinction links, on which pages the changes are readily apparent. Otherwise, the English article will have to be expanded with a list of notable changes, which is also somewhat redundant considering the foreign language pages already cover it. What exactly did you mean by self-reference? Referencing the same article but in a different language? Thanks for your input.--Closettrekker (talk) 06:10, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Self-references to avoid explains that articles should not make reference to Wikipedia, unless the subject of the text is Wikipedia itself. Also, the different language versions of Wikipedia are independent of one another, so cannot be redundant to each other. In fact, they should contain a lot of the same information, as they are intended for different audiences (ie. readers of the particular language). You explain that the variations in the German version are readily apparent in the other article, but that is not true for those of us who don't understand German. Therefore it would be much more useful to present the information in English in the article here. AJCham 08:30, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you regarding image file
[edit]Thank you for the clarification on using image files from Livius.org. May I request you to delete the following image files: Sicily480.png, Sel409.png, Him409.png, Akr406.png, Gela406.png, Motya398.png, Messeme397.png, Taur394.png, Abac396.png and Chrysas.png. They were created from the livius template when it was part of the wikimedia commons. Maglorbd (talk) 11:51, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- As I'm not an administrator, I can't personally delete the files, but I have listed them at Files for Deletion. I'll leave it to you to clean up the articles in which the images are used, as they will leave red links behind once deleted. Regards, AJCham 13:53, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Removal of PROD from Thirteen More Tales
[edit]Hello AJCham, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Thirteen More Tales has been removed. It was removed by TayyabSaeed with the following edit summary 'Removed the tag, as I know about the sources and will add them soon; and I have read the notability guideline, so I know what to do.'. Please consider discussing your concerns with TayyabSaeed before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. 2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation!
[edit]To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.
It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:
- Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
- Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
- Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
- Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
- Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
- Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! [edit]Last chance to confirm your WikiCup participation!
[edit]Hi AJCham/Archives! This is the last message that will go out to remind you that in order to participate in the 2010 WikiCup, you MUST remove your name from this list! Again, the reason for this reconfirmation is to ensure you've looked over the updated point values (which were different at the time you signed up) and to ensure that you are still interested in competing! If you don't have time to participate or no longer wish to, ignore this message and leave your name on the list. All names on the list will be removed from the contestants list before the Cup starts. Cheers! iMatthew talk at 14:15, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
