Matrix Reloaded

[edit]

Hello, ABCxyz You'll find that in the present, it would be false to describe the overwhelming majority of people as non-caucasian. Caucasians make up about half of the world's population, which I don't think can be in any way described as an overwhelming minority - I mentioned this issue on the talk page as well, if you wish to discuss the issue, there is probly the best place. You may wish to note first that although exact statistics are not kept on the issue, a quick glace will reveal that five of the ten most populous countries on earth are predominantly caucasian (India, America, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia) to get a feel for how this is the case. WP:CMC Notice Board

[edit]

Just for your information: When creating a new comics-related article, please try to make a note of it at the Wikiproject Comics Notice Board. That way, you can attract other editors to work on your new article. Thanks, Chris Griswold 02:22, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, I see your article is the subject of a merge discussion. Please don't take this personally; as you continue to edit, you will better understand what sort of articles can stand alone, and which will be deleted or merged. If you ever have questions, be sure to ask at the Wikiproject Comics talk page. Hey, I even recently brought up an article I worked on very heavily early in my time with Wikipedia because I realized it just didn't fit. I look forward to more contributions from you. --Chris Griswold 02:28, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural depictions of Philly

[edit]

Cultural depictions of Philadelphia list is a list of media, such as television and books that shows Philadelphia in fiction or in art. The parade actualy is in Philadelphia, so it would be depicted in a form of media. If it was film with the Mummers Parade in it then the film would go in the list. To be on the list a person would have to create a depiction of the city or something in it. The actual city and items that reside inside do not count. You are looking for Culture of Philadelphia article, where the Mummer's Parade is already mentioned.

I will expand the introduction in the future to make this more obvious.Medvedenko 02:56, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is no other interpretation. The article is the Cultural Depictions of Philadelphia that means nothging else. The Mumers Day Parade is a parade, not a cultural depiction of Philadelphia. I am very confused why you are agruing otherwise. Medvedenko 02:40, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry it took so long to respond. Since I'm not trying to feature the list or anything I've decided to not care about the content of the section and taken it off my watchlist. Medvedenko 00:32, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, see if you like the new template. Got rid of a lot of the clutter. Brian Boru is awesome 00:28, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tracy "Bird" Van Adams

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Tracy "Bird" Van Adams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Springnuts 22:44, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you asked how it was tagged so quickly. A good proportion of articles get deleted within minutes - as they are not worth keeping - so quite a lot of Wikipedians have a look at what has been newly created from the page [[1]]. If you have a look there you will see that a lot of stuff gets tagged within seconds. For that reason it is best to use a personal page to draft an article until it shows notability etc. - gives it a better chance of not falling at the first hurdle. Good luck with Tracy "Bird" Van Adams. Springnuts 09:13, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I took the ((hangon)) tag off asa it is not needed when the article is at AfD. You probably (but it is not for me to say) want to go here [[2]] so that you can argue why the articel meets Wikipedia guidelines. Springnuts 22:33, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, ABCxyz, do we know for sure that both of these characters are returning? I mean, Jesse died, in a very public way, has been back more than once in spirit, and every source I've seen so far has not confirmed that Darnell Williams will be back as Jesse on All My Children, only that he will be back. I mean, it would make more sense if he were returning as Jacob. I would also say if he were returning as Ghost Jesse, since he's done that before, but you stated long-term contracts. Do the sources you added cite that he will be back as Jesse? I re-worded the addition you added until I get confirmation from you, or if you're not sure, confirmation from elsewhere (some valid source). Flyer22 (talk) 07:40, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2008

[edit]

Hey, you want to write up Jesse and Angie's 2008 return and reunion in their storyline section? I'm wondering if you'd rather start that. I'll contribute to it at times, of course.

As for the section that is also about their 2008 return, but addresses the rewriting to bring Jesse "back from the dead", which was titled 2008 rewrite and is now titled Rewrite: 2008, I'll just rename that to Rewrite. Flyer22 (talk) 05:40, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for starting the 2008 part of their storyline. I'm not sure that the Jacob and Angie section should go in their storyline section, though, since it's in out-of-universe form, and it adds more plot to the storyline section...when Wikipedia plot summaries should stay as small as summarizing the plot will allow us. I felt/feel that it would fit better in their Background section, right after it's mentioned that Jesse "died", so I moved it there. A little about Jacob and Angie could be added to their storyline section, of course. It's only the entire Jacob and Angie section that I didn't/don't feel was/is best-suited there, as it goes in out-of-universe form. I expanded the rewrite section of their background. Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan gave a great interview in this addition I added. Flyer22 (talk) 04:48, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The individual infoboxes for the Jesse and Angie article

[edit]

Those really aren't needed. All that information is already present in their article, and having those boxes is just clutter. Flyer22 (talk) 03:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if I had to choose between the two, which I think we should, I prefer their Family and relationships section rather than those two infoboxes stacked atop of each other, right after their main picture. Either way, both options aren't needed. I'll let you decide on which of those two styles we should do away with. Flyer22 (talk) 04:11, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page

[edit]

If you don't already know, though you probably do, given that this article is on your watchlist, it was nominated for GA (Good Article) status and failed. I'm extremely frustrated about that, because I knew that it wasn't ready and it was nominated by an editor who nominated other articles I have greatly improved but also weren't ready.

Anyway, the needed suggestions for improving this article for GA are on that talk page. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind doing some of that. We can easily get this article to GA, and it's been great working with you.

As for the Storyline section, I'm not sure that it needs that much cutting down. I mean, look at the featured article Pauline Fowler, who has a long storyline section due to her years on that show. We should cut a little plot, source as much of it we can, and inform the GA reviewer why most of it is needed.

That Family and relationships section should definitely be removed, though. Flyer22 (talk) 22:55, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Kojak (2005 TV series), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Kojak (2005). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. January 2009

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Kojak (2005) a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. – Toon(talk) 00:01, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tyrone Jackson

[edit]

Hi ABCxyz! Thanks for adding a new article to Wikipedia, but there is one thing that doesn't really belong inside of it. Why is it important for that fictional character to note that the actor is the son of actor Greg Morris (and also adding why Greg Morris is famous)? Shouldn't it just be noted who plays the character? Dmarex (talk) 11:25, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Unnecessary" deletion in Neil Winters

[edit]

Since you restored information I deleted in the Neil Winters article because you considered the deletions to be "unnecessary" I will explain why I did each one.

"A mainstay on the series continuously for more than 17 years, no African American character has appeared on Y&R more frequently than Neil" was deleted from the introduction because there was no source proving this statement.

Y&R was changed to The Young and the Restless because acronyms are to be avoided. Since Y&R is common only to those who are fans of the series and not to people in general, it shouldn't be used.

"The character of Neil Winters, as played by Kristoff St. John, is often cited as one of the most positive and long-lasting African American role models on network television. Controversy, however, exists about St. John's lack of acting talent. His predictable, boring line delivery has drawn special critical attention. Fans wonder why every line sounds like an announcement and also voice certainty that there are better, more talented actors available for the role."

The above paragraph was taken out because it was not factual. It was more of a personal opinion.

Also, when writing plot summary for a fictional character it's supposed to be in present tense. See you around.Rocksey (talk) 01:40, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think his status does need to be cited because really how do we know it's true? What references point to it? I won't fight it if you put it back up though, but really, unsourced material can be challenged. Also, if a third party source can't be found it can be taken as a sign that the information is not notable. I can provide sources for the Jill and Katherine feud. Can the same be said for this?Rocksey (talk) 02:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of List of New York Undercover episodes

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of New York Undercover episodes, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

no indication of notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Boston (talk) 16:12, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lee Halpern

[edit]

Hey there thanks for your contributions, but we have been making a concerted effort to consolidate character articles whenever possible to spare them from deletion. The material for Lee in One Life to Live minor characters doesn't assert enough notability to withstand an AfD, and regardless, this recurring character has no need for her own article. Many small soap articles like the one you're trying to create have been tagged for deletion, and honestly, there is not much defense. All that matters is that the character has a destination for those seeking info on her. Thanks in advance.— TAnthonyTalk 01:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just FYI

[edit]

Your Biblical reference section to the Kings article was extremely useful and insightful. Since Wikipedia is engineered to make sure that useful information is obliterated by the process of bureaucracy, it was of course removed by someone this morning. 207.181.228.210 (talk) 17:00, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence. Jeez. ABC, you must surely know that we are not citable sources of content. I would love to have sources to appropriately counterpart the cast members, but until we have those your personal knowledge of the Bible cannot be utilized here. I've since re-struck its reintroduction, in favor of a non-infobox format (taken from examples provided by three other FA-quality articles) that allows for expansion of how the characters were developed and - should citation come to light - a notation of Biblical counterpart. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 07:41, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not getting into a tit-for-tat debate over this, which is why I'm posting this here on my own discussion page, rather than anywhere else. If someone happens to see it, that's fine. If not, that's OK too.
Clearly, enough people disagree with Arcayne that his edits have again been reverted, and enough note references have been added to make his original argument moot. Thus, I'm satisfied.

Rebecca and Emily

[edit]

Look, I've seen the magazine covers too, but you and the various IPs trying to add the twin info need to learn that sources are required for anything added to a Wikipedia article. I can't police every article, but every time someone adds some bit of unsourced trivia or whatever, they are making it that much easier for the article to be obliterated in an AfD.— TAnthonyTalk 21:20, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Tense

[edit]

I'm sorry, I guess I'm just tired of changing the same thing over and over again. There are still tons of articles with the wrong plot tense and even more articles with just plot. It's just a little nerve racking going through it word by word to change the tense when it would have been much easier if it had been written the right way to begin with. It seems easier and more informative to revert and have the original contributor of the information put it in the right way. Rocksey (talk) 02:06, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Devlin O'Ryan, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Devlin O'Ryan. A Barnstar!
The Legion Barnstar

I hereby award this Barnstar to ABCxyz for their conspicuous effort creating, editing and improving a great many articles related to The Legion of Super-Heroes, especially The Death of Ferro Lad (to name a single example out of many). Long live the Legion! Nutiketaiel (talk) 19:57, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, I am simply amazed at the amount of work and good effort you have put in to the Legion articles recently. Bravo. Nutiketaiel (talk) 19:57, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! And thank you for the Legion Barnstar! It is very appreciated. ABCxyz (talk) 20:53, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem; you deserve some recognition for all the great work you've been doing. Nutiketaiel (talk) 12:13, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, let me also compliment you for the work you've done in creating articles on various key Legion storylines. They are well-written in the Wikipedia style and, in particular, use footnotes not just for cites but also to explain and clarify without obstructing the article body itself. I wish more people knew to do that.
I wanted to point out that Levitz states in v6 #1 that the "New Earth" Legion's continuity is essentially that of the preboot Legion up through the Magic Wars, not just through Crisis as Geoff Johns had stated in an earlier interview. This affects certain of your articles, such as "The Universo Project". YLee (talk) 04:16, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LoSH storylines

[edit]

I see you have created quite a few and I'm concerned the articles aren't addressing why they are notable - awards, analysis in third party sources and the like. The problem is they are currently wide open to deletion and I have seen a lot of storyline articles get removed because there is no explanation of why that particular storyline is important (quite a few Spider-Man ones for some reason). It might be an idea to focus on improving the existing articles, rather than creating more, as I'm concerned that a lot of your time and effort could end up going to waste if the articles aren't improved (so I'd like to head off this possibility before it even raises its head). Let me know if there is any help I can provide I have read a lot of older stories but am not up to speed with recent developments or LoSH scholarship (although there are others around who can help on that front I'm sure) but I can provide general advice. there is for example Teenagers from the Future: Essays on the Legion of Super-Heroes by Timothy Callahan (ISBN 0615203221) and just looking that up I see Best Of The Legion Outpost (ISBN 1893905365) which might also be useful. [edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

The Game (U.S. TV series)

[edit]

Hi. I have removed your "citation" and claim that the tie between Girlfriends and The Game was severed because the statement is an opinion at best. The show is a spin-off and always will be, and as far as I can tell the statement was a joke. Unless you can provide a third party source that explicitly states the tie was severed because of that statement, I believe the content is too open to interpretation to be stated as fact or included in an encyclopedic article which is why I removed it to begin with. Thanks. Pinkadelica 01:01, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and reverted your edits listing Death of the New Gods in the "storylines" section. Like I mentioned in the edit summary, it's no longer considered canon, (just like The Great Darkness Saga). I'm thinking it's best to leave non-canon storylines and in-canon storylines separate, to avoid confusion. Any thoughts? Thanks. Friginator (talk) 18:33, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
