First draft
[edit]I've mad a first draft of a guide to using Zotero with wikipedia, and would appreciate any input here. a13ean (talk) 21:28, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hey! This really helped me!!! Great.
- Do you know how to change the style to localize e.g. with the de-WP templates? In de-WP also the englisch templates work but it would be even nice to have a localized Wikipedia-Style. Probably i have to find the right definition-file in the zotero folder and just translate some words. Can you point me to some documentation on this?--Svebert (talk) 20:36, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Svebert, this is an excellent question! I'm not a developer on the project, but as far as I can tell you can edit the file "Wikipedia Citation Templates.js" which appears in your Zotero translator folder. (If, like me, you have no clue where this folder is see the list [1]). I think all the important stuff you need to change is in the first three sections. If you get one working I would love to see the result. LG, a13ean (talk) 00:38, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Struggling
[edit]I am trying but not doing well at all. As a minor point, you didn't mention that you have to register. That may be obvious if you follow the steps to download from the site, which pops up the registration page, but I had installed the Chrome extension, and was trying to use that.
My biggest problem is that when I open an edit window, and try to drag and drop a reference, it won't let me. I drag the ref with the mouse, but there is an obvious circle with a slash through it.
I can drag and drop into Word, so I don't think it is an issue that I failed to install properly.
Any thoughts?
My second biggest problem is that when I try to do a real example, it fails.
I want to create a reference for this page
When I am on some pages, I see the Save to Zotero icon, but not when I am on this page.
Any thoughts?
I am using Chrome, I tried Firefox, but I had a different set of problems I won't bother you with now.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:16, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Not sure why, but today it works. And I see that in Firefox the icon location is different, so that was my problem in FF.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:46, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
