Hello, and welcome to editing Wikipedia. I hope you have a successful time here. However, you need to know that it is not considered appropriate to send messages to a lot of other editors who you hope will support the same line as you in a discussion, which is known as "canvassing". The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 21:24, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

JamesBWatson Thanks for letting me know. I just needed to get some help from you professionals. Is there a better way to do that? I appreciate the feedback as I learn my way around this space.A-voice-for-women (talk) 13:39, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The best way to request help for an article is instead of generally requesting support from editors, to ask specific questions. For example, "Can you please help me access additional references for this article?" or "I need help finding an image for my article," or even, "do you think this will pass the notability standards and if not, what can do to fix the article?" Specific requests for neutral types of help won't be viewed as canvassing. It's when you ask for "general support" or "agreement" on a viewpoint that you will be suspected of canvassing. It's a fine line to tread, but it doesn't mean you can't request help when you need it. We are here to support one another as editors and build an encyclopedia. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:42, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rosiestep Thank you! I am very inspired by the work you are doing for women, and hope to learn my way around and do some good here, as well. A-voice-for-women (talk) 13:38, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia! :D

Btw, since I'm the "Librarian in Residence" at WikiProject Women in Red, feel free to ask referencing questions for articles. I have access to several databases and I'm a Librarian in Real Life too. ;)

Megalibrarygirl So cute! thank you! I just found the teahouse - so that's GREAT! Also, do you guys do WIR jams regularly? Someone in my area was organizing one during the event last year, and I missed it. A-voice-for-women (talk) 17:22, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We do monthly online editathons. Next month is Women in dance, Women in music, and Indian women. Sometimes there are in person meetups. You can see if there are any scheduled here: Meetup page, though not all of those are WiR-sponsored. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 18:13, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
