December 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm DMacks. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. It's a common misconception that articles should be 50/50 balance of opposing views or give equal coverage to each of several positions. Instead, policy requires that coverage corresponds to the refs. That's especially important for political or other socially charged topics. DMacks (talk) 04:44, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What a majority of public school teachers think is hardly apposite to the topic. The sentence I removed is about something that doesn't apply anymore. There are no places where both sex education is being advocated for and gay marriage is illegal. 987987123Blue (talk) 04:57, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Although Abstinence-only sex education seems highly controversial in the US, that's not the only place this approach is taken. The evidence and discussion cited based from the US does not seem only relevant to the US. We have Abstinence-only sex education in Uganda as a sub-article, which notes that same-sex marriage is illegal. DMacks (talk) 13:41, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Abstinence-only sex education. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. -- Fyrael (talk) 19:34, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Fyrael According to WP:BADREVERT, a revert with the reason "I dunno about this, it seems kind of not neutral ina way" is a bad revert as it is a revert based on not being sure whether or not one agrees with the revert. He also reverted more than it seems he intended to revert. 987987123Blue (talk) 19:55, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of whether you consider one of the reverts a "bad revert", your edits were undone by at least three separate editors. That means it's time to have a discussion on the talk page and find consensus, not try to bulldoze your changes through. -- Fyrael (talk) 03:16, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's also worth noting that WP:BADREVERT (which I'd never heard of up until now) is just an essay, meaning the opinion of an editor. Our position on edit warring is actual policy. -- Fyrael (talk) 03:19, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
