If you have a reliable source that can indicate that Ms. Mezak did in fact create the 49-star flag of the United States, the correct place to say so is in Flag of the United States#49- and 50-star unions. Something similar has already been said about the 50-star proposal by a then-high-school student, Robert G. Heft. Again, it is vital that if you add this material, you supply a suitable reference.
