Talk:Armenian genocide‎‎

[edit]

The arguments you are making on the talk page above have been repeatedly made, discussed, and overwhelmingly rejected. You can see the talk page archives for examples. This page is not a WP:SOAPBOX for disputing the historical fact of the long and brutal Armenian genocide.  // Timothy :: talk  08:25, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@TimothyBlue Read the sources I cited first before lecturing me on history. 95.12.115.214 (talk) 08:26, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Read the notice posted below. There is a one revert restriction in place for this subject area.  // Timothy :: talk  08:30, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TimothyBlue Do not revert my post on the talk page again. 95.12.115.214 (talk) 08:30, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. If you have questions, please request help at the Teahouse.  // Timothy :: talk  08:28, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

April 2023

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Talk:Armenian genocide. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. 331dot (talk) 08:51, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Read the sources I cited before making unsubstantiated accusations. I have cited more than 20 different sources showing that there was not an Armenian genocide. Have you read any one of them? Instead of making an attempt to rebuttal my claims, you chose to block me. Please continue politicizing your administrative capabilities based on prejudiced racist opinions. 95.12.115.214 (talk) 11:20, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ScottishFinnishRadish 95.12.115.214 (talk) 11:20, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have not read them. When responding to a block that was partially for personal attacks you may want to avoid phrasing like Please continue politicizing your administrative capabilities based on prejudiced racist opinions. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:29, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ScottishFinnishRadish You are silencing me for the words I chose but you still fail to prove that my sources are wrong. I'd suggest you take a look at the hierarchy of disagreement. You can make better than that.

You need to stop spreading Turkey's government propaganda and lies. Turkish government sources (court decisions, laws, constitution, etc) are worthless here - they are not reliable sources about any of the genocides (Armenians, Greeks, Kurds, Assyrians) committed by Turkey or the Ottoman empire. They are rightly ignored on Wikipedia. Like other nations who have committed genocide (such as the United States), Turkey cannot escape its undeniable history of genocide.  // Timothy :: talk  11:51, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TimothyBlue The only one that spread lies and propaganda about the events of 1915 is the Armenian government. It has taken an enormous endeavor to falsify what happened in 1915, and its revisionism is a tremendous scandal in modern history. The court decision belongs to the European Court of Human Rights. I cited 20 different academic sources that you chose to ignore. You accuse every source of lying, if it doesn't fit into the Armenian government's revisionist narrative. It is the Armenian government that doesn't want to come to terms with its history. Learn about the brutal massacre of 515,000 Turks by Armenian terrorists between 1914-23 before lecturing Turkey about the so-called 'genocide'. 95.12.115.214 (talk) 12:04, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, you don't get to continue to attack other editors and continue to say you are right while blocked. TPA revoked. RickinBaltimore (talk) 12:14, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user carried this to the Simple English Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 12:29, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And the Latin Wikipedia. I have requested a Global Block on Meta. RickinBaltimore (talk) 12:33, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both. I'm stepping back from this discussion as nothing good will come of me continuing.  // Timothy :: talk  12:37, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing. The IP has gone to Commons, Wikitionary and Wikibooks as well to continue this. RickinBaltimore (talk) 12:40, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And Simple Wikipedia, Danish Wikipedia and others.  // Timothy :: talk  13:18, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Eeesh. And the response is simple enough: "(1) The English Wikipedia is not subject to Turkish law; (2) We are disinterested in Turkish disinformation; (3) World scholarly consensus on the existence of the Armenian genocide predates the independent Armenian government by decades; and (4) Quit while you're behind."
