[edit]Hello, I'm Macedonian. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Angles have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Thanks. Macedonian (talk) 18:28, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Can you tell me what you consider to have been unconstructive about it, exactly?
- Sure, the Scottish people are a Celtic people and hence unrelated to the Angles, who were a Germanic people. Therefore your addition was reverted. Macedonian (talk) 05:22, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Also, please sign your additions to talk pages. PatGallacher (talk) 21:18, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
I don't believe that's required, is it?
I think it's strongly recommended. PatGallacher (talk) 22:37, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Alright, anything to add to the initial disagreement you tacked this onto?
The disagreement about Angles has nothing to do with me. I am curious if you have a source for William Wallace's name in Gaelic. PatGallacher (talk) 00:19, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Alrighty, figured that's what the "Also" was referring to, my mistake. I don't have a source for William Wallace's contemporary Gaelic name at hand, no. It's mentioned on a few other Wikipedia articles though, specifically the one for 'Breathnach' itself. However it appears to be unsourced there too, unfortunately. I also figured it was just common knowledge (definitely not the first place I've read/heard it). You know the Gaelic term for the Lowlands is also 'the Place of the Foreigner', right? And their word for a Lowlander historically was 'goill' (stranger/foreigner/alien/outlander). The 'Scot'land of today is the result of 19th century nation building propagandists going back and basically retconning the history of the region. Much of the Scotland-related history articles on this website are a joke and are in serious need of stringent moderation and rewriting.
