- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at firstโit's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, ๐๐๐ฝ (talk) 15:42, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
breve v caron
[edit]It was a pity that I had to revert your edit to breve because in most similar cases your contribution would have been a good one. Just in this case, the lead of the article already identifies and responds to the potential confusion.
Please don't be discouraged as there are many other (perhaps less well-known) topics that really need care and attention. Welcome again to Wikipedia. --๐๐๐ฝ (talk) 15:42, 2 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Frost 10:09, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- Please do not cut and paste the content of a page to another page. Follow the instructions at WP:RM to request a move instead. Frost 10:16, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- FYI, it is good practice to make a proposal at the article's talk page and invite comments on it before doing a move. --๐๐๐ฝ (talk) 13:02, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Schwa. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Nardog (talk) 09:36, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Nardog wasnโt that only two consecutive edits which count as one edit? Doug Weller talk 10:57, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Doug Weller: I don't know what to tell you other than to look at Special:History/Schwa. Nardog (talk) 21:42, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
This is the English language wikipedia
[edit]It makes no sense to create redirect articles using the name in another language. Arguably it is disruptive because if someone uses Google to search for (say) Myagkiy znak, the best answer is the article in ru.wikipedia; you are polluting their search results with an en.wikipedia "article". Please stop. ๐๐๐ฝ (talk) 15:34, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- Policy Wikipedia:Redirects in languages other than English specifically disallows such articles, so all the ones you have created will be deleted.
- This edit was wp:disruptive: you changed a valid and relevant redirect to an invalid one.
- You should now stop making any more changes until you have understood the reasons you are being given for those changes being reverted. If you don't understand, please ask for advice at WP:The Teahouse. If you persist, you are likely to lose editing privileges. ๐๐๐ฝ (talk) 23:04, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
