Thank you for this - I'm flattered. There is a much better Wikipedia article at JUST WILLIAM SERIES, which, believe it or not, refers to the stage play which was televised and which is at the root of all the hoohah (although obviously it doesn't mention John Le Mesurier.....). I'm afraid I'm rather busy at the moment, so I must decline your suggestion of editing for the time being, although I might return at a later date. Robert Kirkpatrick.
