Unblock request
[edit]81.170.32.152 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Firstly, I - the person requesting this unblock - do not edit Wikipedia from this IP address. I am the network administrator for many computers including the workstation with this IP address. I would like to request an unblock because more than 1 person edits Wikipedia from this workstation, so the block annoys our other staff who want to edit Wikipedia. Also, when a block is placed on a single IP address, it also seems to block all our other workstations with IP addresses on the same range. If you can provide me with a link which shows the abusive edits made from this IP address, I would, in all probability, be able to find the user who has made these abusive edits. I would then be able to disable them from editing Wikipedia within their staff user account. Again, could you please remove the block from this IP address, as many staff are moaning about this. Thank you.
Decline reason:
I am sorry, this range has been blocked for abusive editing. As such, you will have to request an account following the instructions on that linked page. This applies to any of your colleagues who wish to continue editing on this IP range. I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience, but we are not prepared to unblock this address. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
Sorry for any inconvenience I may be causing, and I'm not sure whether I can use this unblock request twice. If I can't, I sincerely apologise. I would just like to ask though, why you aren't prepared to unblock this IP address. Could you also please tell me what vandalism has been happening from this IP address. Reason being that I, as the network administrator, do want to know if any staff are misbehaving on my network and what they are up to. Could you please tell me. Many thanks, and once again apologies for any inconvenience.
Decline reason:
This range is used by recidivist vandals and for the protection of the project, and thus needs to remains blocked. Please contact Wikipedia:Request an account for a registered account which should allow you to edit as long as you are logged in. -- Avi (talk) 23:18, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Looking at the block log, it appears that this particular range block was enacted on 10 January 2010. The rationale cited indicates that we were seeing a large number of sockpuppets from the range, as shown at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/The abominable Wiki troll/Archive#Report date January 10 2010, 07:55 (UTC). This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
