Citing sources
[edit]Thanks for your recent edits on China Labor Watch, but could you please go over Wikipedia:Citing sources and use the preferred formatting and use case for references in the future. Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 19:50, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
[1] Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Please stop. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at China Labor Watch, you may be blocked from editing. Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 13:07, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I am an employee of this organization and the only information removed was inaccurate statements regarding our funding sources. Additionally, my previous edits were done in an attempt to fix the included links to match wiki's reference standards. Thank you for taking the time to review my edits and I hope they can be accepted. Please let me know if additional explainations are required.
- Thank you. 72.79.51.180 (talk) 12:57, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- I have provided multiple sources, including your own organization's website, if you disagree with this information, you are encouraged to provide more recent sources and/or sources debunking this information. Also note the wp:conflict of interest below, it is discouraged for you as an employee to edit your own organization's page. Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 18:56, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- Since you have not addressed the above concerns I have restored my edits. Be aware that reverting several times within a short period can lead to the offending editor's account being blocked. WP:3RR Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 18:04, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, 72.79.51.180. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page China Labor Watch, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. As a declared employee of the organization, you should be proposing edits at Talk:China Labor Watch under Template:edit COI rather than editing the article directly.
