You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:
- Create new pages and rename pages
- Edit semi-protected pages
- Upload images
- Have your own watchlist, which shows when articles you are interested in have changed
If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (71.172.254.114) is used to identify you instead.
I hope that you, as a new Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or you can to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~).
Happy editing! LakesideMiners (talk) 13:40, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
RE:blocking
[edit]If you did not see the response on Destroyeraa's talk page, you have not been blocked from editing but the page has been semi-protected. This means that IP addresses and newly-registered accounts cannot edit it. It is a sort of blanket action, since most vandalism comes from IPs and new users. It does not mean that you did anything wrong. I don't think it was strictly necessary in this case, since the persistent vandalism was coming from a single IP, but it is only temporary. If you want to edit semi-protected pages, you will have to register and account and reach autoconfirmed status. While I can tell that you meant well in your actions, I would also recommend reviewing the page on vandalism for the proper procedures on how to respond to it. MfD nomination of Draft:Hurricane Epsilon (2020)
[edit]Draft:Hurricane Epsilon (2020), a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Hurricane Epsilon (2020) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Hurricane Epsilon (2020) during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. ~ Destroyeraa🌀 14:21, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
